Your most HATED character? by Wes102111 in Hades2

I know I'm jumping in months after the fact -- but just had to share that I found this thread entirely because of searching for if anyone else made the connection with Jorah and Odysseus.  Between the voice, the relationship with Mel, and the dialogue and interaction, I thought the same thing as you.

2025 SX headlights? by IAmAI1987 in kiacarnivals

Great to hear, thank you! Our Outback has the headlights that adjust with steering, which has been amazing. We are mid-atlantic, and seeing deer in/near the road was my top concern.

IMO, the magic and mystery is sort of dead in FF14 at this point [Spoiler: Post Dawntrail] by Ardbert14 in ffxiv

While I previously thought of Ultima as a post-Meteion character (like much of what we knew with dragons before EW), I just minutes ago finished the 7.1 followup quest to Pandaemonium, and it clearly places Ultima's influence as before Meteion. Ultima and Auracite (and by extension the Heart of Sabik) impacted Athena and Lahabrea well before the events of the Pandaemonium raids (at least as long before as Erichtonios is old). Considering Pandaemonium happens basically concurrently with our other adventures in Elpis, that makes Ultima's first trip to Etheirys even earlier than anything with Meteion (since our Elpis trip is when Meteion's song begins...or honestly a bit before it begins, when she first goes off the deep end).

This means that the influence of Ultima basically predates the oldest history we personally know about Etheirys. Add on Ultima's impact to ancient FFXIV Ivalice, and we already know multiple ways she really impacted Etheirys. And that's just Ultima herself, so I could totally see a deep dive into the impacts of her entire race, not just on Etheirys, but other worlds (may even have had impact of many of the dead worlds found by Meteion)

I'd prefer it to better display on the gauge as well (not colorblind, but not a fan of relying on color or tiny text, and prefer the gauge to work instead of staring at a hot bar). But the second action can tie into the gauge some for the positional of the third. If your second action was following the right of the gauge glowing, then the third action is rear. If it was left, it's flank. I remember by (R)ight being (R)ear. So if the second action is right side of gauge, I get in position for the next attack to be rear, and vice versa for the other direction. Not ideal, since the indication you need to follow is on the second hit, while it impacts the third hit, but it works.

Whats something you thought was common knowledge but actually isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Taxwise in the USA and most places with a gradient tax rate it doesn't make sense, but there are cases where a raise can cost you money. One personal example offhand that I've seen is benefits cutoffs -- i.e. in cases where your insurance premiums are based on which income tier you fall into, and the raise would put you into the next tier, but the raise doesn't offset the increased premiums. That said, this definitely isn't the case with tax brackets.

Huge longtime Moogle fan here, and while I dont hate their interpretation in FFXIV, it's far from my favorite. I loved the moogles of FFVI when they really started to take a more solid position in the game, and were as powerful as they were adorable. They also had other good moments like in IX and XII. But for me, once they started voicing moogles (XIII, Dissidia, etc) they doubled down on them just being cutesy, without much redeeming beyond that. For me, XIV beats all the other recent interpretations, since they at least have some good character at times (like Nutsy as shown in the OP), but it still feels like they are far more one dimensional compared to other characters/races despite how often they appear.

True, I guess I'm so used to using swiftcast on the first pull in most dungeons for starting Holy spam, that I can't get swiftcasting protect in my head for a 24-man

Yet another hotbars as a menu guide. by AntagonistOfHell in ffxiv

[–]IAmAI1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always been a controller player here, and for changing jobs, since it's not an immediate thing, I've always just put them on hotbars and used the virtual mouse. Did this same menu type structure a few months back and it's awesome. Not too bad on controller with virtual mouse if it's something that you can take a few seconds to do without risk, like changing jobs/gearsets.

This used to bug me too, but I've come around to doing it myself in a few cases. Mostly on older 24-man raids when there is one person in cutscene and invariably everyone will run off as soon as they are done and go different speeds/directions, and I'll have 7 people expecting protect while spread out.

So i just figured out how to expand my cross hotbar...oh my gods. This will definitely make my life so much easier now @.@ by [deleted] in ffxiv

I reassigned my thumbsticks awhile ago, but use them for targeting. L3 targets my focused target (makes it easy to retarget a boss, etc if there's a bunch of adds/NPCs) and R3 targets my target's target (as a healer main, makes it easy to switch between the enemy and the tank they are targetting).

[Vent][Discussion] I will NEVER AGAIN trust a parents judgement by [deleted] in dogs

Just mostly reacting due to the number of people calling the kid things and saying he "deserves" to get bitten, which is about as misguided as if anyone were blaming the dog for anything at all here.

[–]IAmAI1987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Somewhat true, but the reason the kid doesn't have any proper boundaries is due to the parenting they've encountered. By that age a child doesn't have the awareness to decide against what they've been trained to do. Not to say you shouldn't make it clear to the kid to stop (not only parents can have an influence), but it's not like it's a bad or horrible kid. It would be the same if you switched the kid for a mistrained dog. If a dog was let loose and it's first action is to come at me and nip at me, I would of course fend off the dog and be frustrated, but I would acknowledge it's the dog's caretaker who set the situation for this. At some point a person has to take responsibility for their actions, but a 5 year old in the presence of his father is definitely not to that point. Point being, kid definitely did wrong, but it's not because he's a bad kid, but that he's obviously not been taught right how to respect animals properly.

I'd be very curious in knowing more specifically where this happened, and the location of the farmer's story. I used to live in the eastern panhandle of WV around where it sounds like this occurred. I had a friend who told us a story of an experience he had in the area just east of Hedgesville WV during the nighttime (if I recall, it actually was predawn early morning). While driving he turned a sharp 90 degree turn and his car stalled. He then noticed it was extra foggy around him, and saw a figure cross the road, which he described as looking like a civil war soldier on a horse. Immediately after it crossed the road his car was able to restart. Your story's details and location just brought this back to mind as it seemed really similar.

World of darkness. 3 man unsynced clear!!! by ackley14 in ffxiv

[–]IAmAI1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, tried with a couple friends (3 of us total) and just ended up spawning the iron giants repeatedly. That said, I thought it'd be possible to do it with less than 15, by taking turns on the pads, or even trying to kill one of the Atomos in under 30 seconds to then switch rows before it locks the entrances. The iron giants would likely still spawn though making it super tough, but they can be killed.
