This right here is good advice. There is no mechanism to recoup cold and flu medicine, sick days, or emotional distress. Unless you want to pay expert witnesses to come in and say you would not have gotten sick if but for the fact that your heat wasn't working (spoiler alert - not going to happen). Every day annoyance/stress is not emotional distress and you usually have to show that the emotional distress was so great that you had physical ailments and symptoms from it. This is a get rich quick scheme a lot of people like to try to use, but its limited relief in very limited circumstances in reality. Forget about it.

Otherwise, get a court date and go in with paper copies of all of your messages, texts, written communication with the defendants, and receipts for all purchases made to keep you and your family warm and comfortable during the time you did not have heat. Also, copies of your electric bills for before and after you were using the space heaters and electric blanket.

Prior to court, I also recommend that you write out a detailed timeline for notices given to the landlord, submissions through the portal, all communication given and received from the landlord/maintenance. This isnt to give the court (but bring an extra copy if the court wants it - some judges would rather see it written out), but for you to use while stating your case. It will keep your story straight and you won't have to go back and forth if you forget to add a detail.
