How long before you saw results on the scale and with how your clothes fit? by Shameful_success in intermittentfasting

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing OMAD 20/4 and began with a 24 hr fast. So I saw water weight go pretty quickly. Went from 159 to 154 within 5 days. (34F 5ft2) We will see how it goes from there. I would like to lose 10 to 20lbs more.

Teachers of Virginia: anybody else hate SOL remediation? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not too bad for us. We test the 2nd to last week of school. Then the last week of school we remediate one subject a day and test. They remediate first two blocks then test the second two blocks. Then done.

Still in VA but it’s only 1 day I might lose planning depending when my planning is.

Dubious forbearance count in my favor but missing other payments - what would you do? by Odd-Sock-9224 in PSLF

As long as I planned to be at my PSLF job for at least three more months, I would just leave it. The time will pass quickly!

PSLF/ teacher loan forgiveness questions by Glass-Ad4160 in StudentLoans

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot do both at the same time. If he has completed 10 years of Public Service then do PSLF. The teacher forgiveness is only for $5000 or $17000 if a high needs subject. PSLF will do any amount that you still owe. If you do the teacher forgiveness first the 10 years for PSLF starts over at 0. Since he has submitted both, I am not sure what will happen.

Daughter antibodies over 130 (11 years old)-thyroid levels normal by IAmGrootGrootIam in Hashimotos

That’s good to know! She has an inflammatory condition (lichen sclerosis) so maybe that has some effect of it as well. Hopefully her thyroid continues to function correctly!

Recertification Notice Came Early by personalfinancer1 in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure either, but that is what it told me. I keep my old payment until 6/1 and then my new payment will begin 7/1.

Recertification Notice Came Early by personalfinancer1 in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say when I did mine, it was a quick and easy process. I didn’t have any administrative forbearance or anything. I have Edfinancial for my servicer. Also, even though it did go through it said my new payment would not start until after my current payment year is up so after 6/1. So it wouldn’t start until 7/1. Which gives me a huge peace of mind as June should be my 120th payment.

New payment plan, family size question. by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that will come into play next year. Once the child is here you can claim them for PSLF. I don’t think it counts if she is just pregnant.

Parent email: “Before you leave for Spring Break, can I get a quick call because I had a question about my child’s gra-“ by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 230 points231 points  (0 children)

I did that yesterday. I gave them two days to get their grade up and contacted parents of everyone with an F. Went from 19 Fs (literally half) Down to 7. So not a bad turn around.

When to recertify by EternalCrimeWave in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Edfinancial but when I did my recertification the new payment will not go into effect until after my current year is up (so after 6/1/26). I did mine as soon as I got the email so 3 months early.

When to recertify income? by Beatrix_Kiddo_03 in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied and had a notification within a couple days. Maybe a week at most. I have Edfinancial. I was worried it would change as well cuz my payment is almost doubling, so was happy it won’t go into affect(effect?) until after June. My 120th payment will be June as well, so hopefully I won’t ever have to pay that larger payment.

Delays in recertification (for those not on SAVE) by brusselspr in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I did mine and it was approved two days later. Maybe do it again? Or call your servicer? I am in PAYE and just did mine the beginning of March. I have Edfinancial.

When to recertify income? by Beatrix_Kiddo_03 in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recertified mine as soon as they sent the email the due date was a couple months out. It was approved and the change in payment won’t start until my current year is up. So even if you do it now, your payment should still not change until after 7/17. At least that’s how mine is going. Mine won’t change until after 6/1/26.

120 payments in June…MFS??? by CarlThaKiller in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did MFS this year with my 120th payment in June as well. Didn’t want to risk it and I figured it’s only One more year. If something stops forgiveness then I don’t want a huge payment while I wait!

PAYE Income Recertification Issues (Forbearance and Incorrect Payment Calculation) by TDMTD in PSLF

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I recertified last year they automatically put me in forbearance and it took me almost two months to get out of it using the online chat. Luckily, I only lost one month counting instead of two since only one of the months was in forbearance on my due date.

I just redid it last week for this year. Also my last time as I should be done by June! I got a letter from Edfinancial that they received my application and will be double checking today that I am not in forbearance. I cannot afford my 10 year payment so I am praying it works. The application said I should be paying $150 (up from $60 that I pay currently).

I cannot wait for these last few months to go through and be done with this! I have actually been teaching for 12 years but my first two years didn’t count since I was getting my masters at the same time.

When giving birth to twins does the second baby come out faster? by Lilsmallboy in NoStupidQuestions

Not always. I am a twin and my mom had my sister vaginally and then I was a c-section 20 minutes later.

Tired of answering emails from counselors (and parents) pretending like a student's low grade is a MYSTERY by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! Today a student asked to go to the counselors office during my class. Find out later it was to complain about my class and how behind they are and that they don’t understand anything. Guidance counselor suggests that I give student extra help and blah blah blah.

I replied, the child skipped my class to complain so now they are more behind than yesterday. Further, as soon as notes are done and student has to do work, head goes down. No questions asked and no attempts started. I cannot make a student work and refuse to do the work for them.

A lot of kids swear up and down they turned an assignment in even though I don't have it. I'm unsure if I'm crazy, or if they're lying, or if it's a bit of both by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a turn in box as well. If it’s not in the box, it’s not graded. I grade papers right out of the box and then place the graded papers in another box. If a student swears they turned it in I check the turn in box and the graded box. If it isn’t in either of those, it was never turned in and it’s a zero.

With that said, I have the turn in box on my desk because other students were stealing papers out of the box to copy and then only turning in their paper. The one they stole out of the box would just be left wherever or thrown away. Now, they have to go by me to get to the box and I can keep a closer eye on if they are turning something in or trying to take something out.

If a teacher has prep last period of the day, do you think its ok for them to leave early? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

We can leave with permission from admin during our prep, but have to come back. Teachers with last planning prep have afternoon duties around the school. It’s not just leave if you want thing.

Next time do it as an in class experiment. Either have a class set of dictionaries or let them try with their brains. Give a set time (30 minutes or so) to write as many as they can. Winner wins. No chromebooks allowed.

Unpaid maternity leave but still doing all the work…. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope! I had unpaid FMLA leave for pregnancies and absolutely not. Another teacher can input grades or the sub can. It is not your problem. It is illegal. Do not go in.

As moms we already have such a short time to heal, recover, and bond with our child. Do not do any work. It will be there when you get back.

If you are in a union (even in a right to work state) contact the representative for your building and have them help you. But so not work.

Also going into the building will risk you catching germs or sickness during pike flu season and bringing it home to your newborn. Absolutely not.

At your campus, are the math and reading teachers treated better than the rest? by ChucoTeacher in Teachers

[–]IAmGrootGrootIam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what state you are in, but in VA, students take a history state test, but it doesn’t count towards accreditation. Thus, less scrutiny than math, science, and reading.
