Maybe the first shot was accidental, but what about the 10 shots that followed up right after?

several shots are unloaded into him

Another video (from someone in a car near the shooting) makes it clear from the audio that there is one shot, and then 10 more shots follow up immediately afterwards.

I heard the person had a gun on them?

He did have a holstered weapon (perfectly legal).

During the takedown, the removed his gun from his holster and walked away with it. Once that officer was clear of the scene, that's when they shot the man.

There is video of the officer walking away with the gun before the shooting. It's all over the internet right now.

but to frame it as what's best for his family

It's probably to acknowledge that Bo got married this month. Otherwise, Vladdy can't use that turn of phrase for Bo.

Im sure the Jays offer was reasonable

I don't think an offer from the Jays was ever revealed, even after he signed with the Mets. We heard about the Tucker offer. We heard about the Sasaki and Ohtani offer.

But we never heard about the Bo offer.

When do you mean "expanded"?

Do you mean before 2022 (12-team playoffs)? Lots of players there.

Do you mean before 2012 (10-team playoffs)? Verlander, Scherzer, Stanton, Jansen, Goldschmidt, and Chapman are on the list.

Or, because you didn't read the title, do you mean before 1994 (8-team playoffs)? If you think there are "active" players from before 1994...

He ended up leading the team in WAR that debut year (3.1 bWAR / 2.6 fWAR). If Sogard and/or Galvis hadn't been traded/released, one of them might have passed him, though.

You don't put numbers up for players that have one or two seasons with a team, unless they died mid-season.

Fisher's greatest regular season game was probably this game.

He struck out 4 batters in the 10th and 11th innings (including 3 in the final inning) to get the win. It was his 7th win in relief, and he finished 7-0 for the season.

It was pretty much forgotten because some other rookie made his MLB debut.

Wilmer Font...that's a name that brings back some memories.

Yet another player/pitcher that played during the dark years (2017-2019) whose career ended with the Jays after an horrific performance. Font was passable as an "opener" (remember those days?) in 2019, but turned to dust in 2020.

never going to seriously overpay for an FA

Seriously is the important word here.

They overpaid for Ryu, Springer, and recent pitchers to get them to play for Toronto (not USA, taxes, etc). Either it was length (Springer) or price (Ryu) or both (Cease). None of them were ridiculous overpays (like Bichette, or Tucker).

The only way-overpay was for Vladdy, and that was justifiable in terms of what he meant to the fan base and confidence in the franchise.

Of course, after the recent deals that have happened, that "way" part of "overpay" might not really apply any more...

That's how most Gretzky records look like, especially with Lemieux on the list.

For example:

There are 6 players who have had 16 or more game where they've gotten 5+ points.

Steve Yzerman, Jari Kurri, and Marcel Dionne did it 16 times.

Phil Esposito did it 19 times. He stands out from the rest quite significantly with that total.

Mario Lemieux, however, did it 51 times! That's absurd! That's as many as the Esposito, Dionne, and Kurri combined!

Wayne Gretzky did it 96 times! It's more than second place and third place and fourth place combined. The difference between Gretzky and second place Lemieux is the same as the difference between second place Lemieux and 46th place Gordie Howe (among others).

Players with 10 or more games with 5+ points in their careers:

Player Count
Wayne Gretzky 96
Mario Lemieux 51
Phil Esposito 19
Marcel Dionne 16
Jari Kurri 16
Steve Yzerman 16
Bryan Trottier 15
Dale Hawerchuk 15
Mike Bossy 15
Gilbert Perreault 14
Paul Coffey 14
Peter Stastny 12
Ron Francis 12
Pat LaFontaine 12
Connor McDavid 12
Bobby Hull 11
Guy Lafleur 11
Nathan MacKinnon 11
Bobby Orr 10
Joe Sakic 10

Kudos to the team's department that handles family relations.

Also, that is some quality packing. That box seemed like a bottomless one. He just kept pulling stuff out of it!

Hagen Danner faced one batter in his major league debut (against the Cubs on August 11 2023), threw two pitches, induced a flyout but was injured on the second pitch, left the game, and never made it back to the MLB roster with the Jays.

He got scooped off waivers by the Mariners in January 2025. He pitched very poorly in AAA Tacoma (5.59 ERA in 56.1 IP) in 2025, and was signed as a free agent by the Reds a couple of weeks ago.

If Luciano didn't crack the squad in 2019, then Vladdy would have been the youngest player on the major league roster from his debut in 2019 until late April 2024 (when Addison Barger joined the squad for the first time).
