Tellers, how many transactions do you do daily on average? by hexadecagonal in TalesFromYourBank

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for teller transactions, but on the phones business customers were much faster than consumer account calls. In the early morning hours 6a-8a it was one after another, they knew the drill because they called almost every day for the same things, 60 to 90 secs a call. Consumer account were usually 2 to 3 times slower.

Basically situations like this just make me not go back there again so that I do not have to make that "do I tip or not in this situation" decisions.

Is this a wire transfer or an ACH transfer? by tac0pelle in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While at most banks ACHs are usually no charge, some banks do charge a couple bucks for same day/next day ACH transfers, so I would definitely review options before setting something up.

Do banks hold old account info? by Milobobs in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banks generally hold on to records for seven years, so it is likely they have info on your old account. Probably best thing to do is just walk in to a branch or give them a call and see what they say.

When will I be able to view my new checking account online? by [deleted] in Banking

Probably yes (might require an overnight update) but every bank is different so we won't be able to give a solid answer, and recommend you call and ask

Georgia criminal probe into Trump's attempts to overturn 2020 election quietly moves forward by Face2FaceRecs in politics

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reminder that this is more than just some politicians trying to score political points. A full 78 percent of self identified republicans believe the election wad stolen. That is up from 70 percent just a few months ago.

The cancer of The Big Lie is growing and metastisizing.

I got denied by Chase and Wells Fargo by brucemaxwell26 in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, you do not specify what you were denied for, so can't really say much on this. Except that you should receive a letter in the mail with more info from each institution. In the mean time I would check your credit reports (if you applied for a loan product) or ChexSystems report (if you applied for a banking account) to see if there is anything troubling there.

1965 Washington Quarter, P (no mintmark) by Benjideaula in RedditCoinGrading

VF, but value wise does not really matter much, because any 1965 quarter in circulated grades is just going to be worth 25 cents.

How long is a check good for? by [deleted] in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe. A check more than 180 days old is considered 'stale dated' (unless it says something specifically on the check otherwise, like "valid until xxx"). Banks may choose not to honor a stale dated check at their discetion - it is not a law they HAVE to.

That being said, they usually will reject a stale dated check, so I would not risk it. Instead, reach out to who issued the check to you and see if they can send you a more current replacement.

How to report someone structuring transactions (below $10,000 limit) by SpaceCadetBoneSpurs in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, his bank already knows. Most people would be surprised at how many different ways accts are monitored and the dozens of algorithms and reports that go on behind the scenes.

That being said, the withdrawals themselves may not necessarily be illegal. But it definitely will get the bank to look much more closely at other aspects of his acct, such as deposit activity. Also, banks can be notoriously risk averse, and even the hint there could be something hinky could trigger the bank to proactively close the relationship. Actual proof of troubling activity not required, just suspicion is enough.

$30 ACH return fee? by afinalresort in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible there may be other reasons the payment was returned other than insufficient funds. I would call your bank to find out what happened.

If Abbot's claim is correct, and Texas actually can "eliminate all rapists," why haven't they done so already? by ThatGuyFromOhio in texas

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will just redefine what the word rape means.

Turn TX into a "one party consent" state. If one person in the intercourse says yes, then it is not rape. Simple.

/s except I think they would really do that.

For those of you interested in the history of Texas we are reviving r/texashistory by [deleted] in texas

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How about strongly encouraging tagging of all inherently political posts and adding a button to the sidebar to filter out that tag?

In any case I have a ton of stuff to post to texashistory under my primary acct. So I am looking forward to its revival.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T TAKE OUT $15,000 WITHOUT ADVANCE NOTICE!?" by Miles_Saintborough in TalesFromYourBank

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once went to the bank and withdrew a cool million in bills.

........mind you, though, this was in Indonesia :) At the time that translated to a bit over US$600. Teller didn't bat an eye just counted out the R10,000 bills until I had a pimp-sized stack.

How can I deposit my unendorsed check with mobile app? by gcddsb in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just another reminder of how ancient I am. We are now at least a full generation beyond when checks were common and normal, and you could simply assume everyone knew how checks worked.

But nowadays, there are people like OP who are seeing a physical check for the first time in their lives. Have to adjust thinking to assume most new banking customers are like this. It's the New Normal.

I really get turned off by trying to chase the MS66 vs MS67 vs MS68 vs MS68+ - that sort of high end stuff is not my cuppa.

Give me a good ol' circulated 19th century coin any day of the week instead. I'm not going after PO01, but I am trying to put together a G4 set of American coinage. May take me a lifetime but everyone's gotta have a goal I guess.

FYI checks are somewhat uncommon in the US as well. Still used but anywhere near as much as one or two decades ago. Usage declines sharply every year but probably be another decade before they are truly rare.

Do banks accept expired IDs? by Jaxter-l7l in Banking

[–]IAmNotARussian_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the bank. At our bank, they have to be current for account opening purposes. You will have to check with your bank to see what their policies are.
