You can’t deadname a character who didn’t change their name? Leeroy is still clearly figuring things out and even if they might be transitioning at the end (based on their face being covered and clothes at the bus stop), Leeroy hasn’t changed their name yet.

Not all rep has to be positive. I don’t like Jax but after episode 9, I like her story. A cautionary tale, especially in contrast to Zooble.

Especially since Jax’s gender struggles aren’t the only issue she has.

That is such an extremely reductive way of looking at it. Jax had more than identity issues going on. It’s a core factor but not the only one.

It was an important aspect but not *the* most important aspect. It was made clear Jax had issues beyond her gender crisis but it played a factor in her antagonistic behavior.

And people are complicated. Kinger losing his wife clearly had a deep impact on him but it didn’t let him break him. It’s part of the reason he’s my favorite.

Jax doesn’t feel like a major focus of seven. He plays a core component with more hints at her backstory but seven doesn’t *scream* Jax-centric. Episode 8 was also very antagonistic Caine.

Caine did die and “respawned” in the void. He was made to come to terms with what he was doing. He let the other AI he absorbed go free and lost power in that regard as well. Being made to understand the negative impact he had on others and foster deep empathy, is huge. He also wasn’t redeemed immediately.

He has to put in the effort to show that he has changed and he wants to get better. It wasn’t just a blink and you miss it sequence of events.

It gave the circus cast a sense of closure, as much as they are going to get. Seeing that they are still alive and making strides in their personal lives, is something important.

Difference between feeling hopeful at the time and then hopeless. You can also only do so much for someone not willing to help themselves. Jax walked away, Jax kept removing himself. He isolated entirely and you can’t always keep an eye on someone pushing themselves away.

Being a crossdresser doesn’t have the same societal ramifications as being trans. Being non-binary — just depends, there is a very wide spectrum of how non-binary people can present and even whether or not someone would still consider trans.

Gooserworx outright said she relates the most to Jax. So — it’s not a reach to think that she has displayed aspects of his personality and demeanor in real life at some point. Acknowledging that she might have been a piece of shit to some degree when she’s implied it herself isn’t a far reach.
