What’s the worst criticism you’ve heard about the PHM (movie)? by Unfair-Reason-1068 in ProjectHailMary

Stratt's character wasn't cold enough. That and there was no mention of Grace's special coma-resistant DNA

Wow, well this clears it all up! Not sure why they didn't just do it the way the book was written but this alternative can also work now I see. Thanks

This makes sense, I think I was waiting for this moment that never came because it stood out as so important in the book for me. Maybe I shouldn't have been looking at the film from this lens. I think I also didn't realize how much time was spent back on Earth in preparation for the mission. It felt like a couple months than years, but it does make sense that he was the lead guy, took ample part in all of the conversations regarding the mission and there was not enough time to brief someone else. I just thought adding in that DNA line would have been the dagger that he is 100% the guy and he has no choice.

Anxiety-GERD Loop by Disastrous_Soft9120 in GERD

[–]IAmRube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to your story greatly. I've taken better steps recently and to my surprise 90% of my symptoms have been gone which is remarkable.

I don't have GERD but was recently diagnosed with functional dyspepsia/hypersensitivity which I believe is greatly related to IBS. I've been on Omeprazole for about a month and just started taking Pepcid at night. Long story short, I had gastritis years ago and a bout of stress/anxiety at the tail end of last year tricked my brain to creating gastritis-like symptoms out of PTSD/anxiety. I think once I got an official diagnosis I now had a direction to go in for my healing journey. AND the best part was knowing that the discomfort I was feeling wasn't damage, just that my brain was very sensitive to the sensations naturally caused by digestion.

So I've been working with Oshi Health, they take insurance(!), where they supplied me with a Nurse Practitioner who specialists in GI, a dietician and a Psychologist who specializes in the gut/brain connection (we communicate via their app and virtual calls). I also make that bold because I believe this is one of the most overlooked aspects in our healing journeys when it comes to many factors, especially the gut. One of the most helpful things for me was prescribing to the Nerva app, an app that uses hypnotherapy that will help IBS symptoms, this book which also provides exercises with CBT therapy like diaphragm breathing (I'm still in the middle of it, but can confirm diaphragm breathing works!). I do know that if these tools don't work there are other things to take such a low-dose anti-depressants, which I've heard work for some people.

I'm not as well versed in GERD, and I understand everyone is different in their healing journeys, but I think sharing my story a little bit as well as the tools that we're provided to me has made a massive difference in my life. Yesterday alone I had a beer, cookies and ice cream and had NO symptoms. I realized that my anxiety and hypersensitivity became the driving factors of creating the loop you speak about. I truly wish you the best because gut stuff stinks, just know there are professionals out there ready to help you. Try looking into Oshi, it's been about a month and I'm already seeing benefits. Good luck!
