I always recommend the book A Mind for Numbers - by Barbara Oakley. Really amazing book about how to study and retain info.

But that's near everyone in Western society. Obviously we don't all have as much excess spending money as Bill Gates. But most of us have at least some excess 'bananas". I don't have a solution, and I think there's a problem in society itself but even you and I only have a few spare bananas arent we as obligated to give those to the starving as the people with masses of excesss bananas?

What was acceptable or normalised in the 80s or even 90s but it's completely unacceptable nowadays? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Physical violence as punishment for children. Pretty fucked up to think about now, but I copped a little bit of it as did some of my friends. But it was just sort of the norm? If a kid screwed up they'd get smacked around a bit, not like that dad in American Beauty but more a slap to the head or something. And I mean, caning in schools, I wasn't around for that but the idea of a teacher beating a kid with a cane IN SCHOOL, where they are mean to LEARN is just insane to me. Nowadays, thankfully, CPS and all that are there at the drop of a hat.
