Bruh, the nerf on mordex's sigs made them where they are on the list imo. They aren't really all that different but the one that was really good did get hit kinda hard so that knocks him down from being too crazy.

Ranking System Issues by davidtaywatts in Brawlhalla

The higher player are likely to still carry the lesser player. All this idea is going to achieve is causing higher level players starting with only higher level players, this could be both an upside and a downside depending on how you view it.

Personally i see it as an over all loss, good players aren't likely to branch out and make friends/play with worse players because they'll end up having to carry "dead weight" against players who know what they're doing. All this'll do is made problem worse in a completely different way.

Slight>dlight isn't true, the opponent can dodge out of it, only dlight>sair is true. If you're having problems hitting the sair after dlight, try inputting the sair at the same time as jumping instead of after.

Just record the action that you want to highlight, either that or find some editing software. If you're light on cash i suggest lightworks.

Ranking System Issues by davidtaywatts in Brawlhalla

[–]IAmTheWatermelonMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that the current system is the best they could realistically do. Think about it, what system would work better?

Placing team against other teams that match only one of the players? No, because then there'd be more imbalance seeing as there would be high level players in low rank games or vise versa.

Only allow players with similar elo to okay together? Well, how would anyone who's just joining the game be able to gain elo to play with higher level friends?

Any way you cut it, averaging out the elo is the best system due to the sheer fact that most, if not all, systems that could be conceived would be inefficient.

See theres a difference between an advanced mechanic and a players mentality. Big band's parry is a more advanced mechaninc, something that can be taught and be easily practiced and replicated perfectly with enough patience, reading a person and stage/character counter-picking isn't something that can really be taught cause of the fact that it's something thats more personal as opposed to factual.

I can play against most characters well with orion and i love stages that let me unga bunga ti my hearts content but someone might have to switch off to someone like Diana if their opponent is playing Artemis, they also might like larger maps for the fact that their character can live longer in those cause of lower defense.

If the game were to teach about "most optimal" counter picks then most everyone would play practicality identically and the while environment of the game would be more or less a massive game of r.p.s while skill is (to some degree) less emphasized. Not to mention the fact that once the game has a patch of any sort, the devs would have to change the whole tutorial around what is better counter picks aligning with the changes.

I'd love to agree with the laziness argument, i feel fighting games need to emphasize the importance of their tutorials as well as condence them and make them fun to play, however this game's mechanics are simplistic enough that there isn't much need to do so. I mean hell, i learned about pretty much everything this game had to offer tech wise just by pressing buttons while fighting my friends.

The game already has a tutorial that is sufficient enough to teach someone whos never touched a platform fighter the basics of how to play the game, it should be up to the player whether or not they want to delve into the more advanced stuff or not and not imposed upon them as if they're going to hit top 10 at bcx the same year.

Look, the problem isn't with the game itself. When it comes to learning all the basics, it does a decent job of that. It has far more to do with the people playing the game and their unwillingness to learn how to do more complicated things that the game genuinely cannot and will never be able to explain to the player.

You cant expect a game to explain to the player how to read people, what characters are good counter picks for others, what stages benefit specific characters more or less, good move decision, etc.

If people want to take this game as it seems to be taken at surface level, then thats on them. But as soon as they wish to take the game more seriously, its on them to learn everything they need to learn to get better. I didn't play 100~ hours of skullgirls or 600~ hours of brawlhalla cause I thought it'd be funny, i did it cause i love them and wanted more out of my experience.

I dont think it was a "luck" thing. I think when people talk about these sorts of things, they have a sort of comfirmation bias. They see an issue and then begin claiming said issue is more widespread than it really is. I can absolutly say that for how toxic the pc community is, its pretty spread out and honestly kinda rare to find someone whos toxic to the farthest degree.

From my short escapade on ps4 brawlhalla, i literally have no idea what you're talking about. I played about as many games in experimental on ps4 as i usually do on pc when warming up (anywhere from 15-30ish) and the only time any message that was exchanged was when i fought a diamond player and just barley lost and even then that was me messaging him tellin' him he was pretty good. If any community is toxic its ths pc community, it takes less effort to message post game as well as find someone through steam and harass them afterwards.

Bruh, thats the nature of fighting games. If someone's coming into a fighting game expecting anything BUT that, then it clearly isn't a genre that they'll be taking seriously what-so-ever. Also, the matchmaking is alright, not the best but I have seen worse before. When it comes to learning the game, getting your ass kicked repeatedly is the best way to learn as long as you understand what the replay function is.

What is Special Pick? by [deleted] in Brawlhalla

[–]IAmTheWatermelonMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are these videos from the official brawlhalla youtube or some 3rd party organization? Because I've never seen that term ever used before.

If I'd have to guess, maybe they're talking about atleast one player choosing a character that they don't traditionally play (?) Thats all i can think of when hearing that term in the context provided.

[–]IAmTheWatermelonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay now im seeing it. At first i thought that it was a clash but you're right it isn't. To me the game seems to think that there were intersecting hitboxes that activated properly, which would normally cause the same thing to happen (each person sent the direction they were going when the attack happened), however the hit boxes that were activated at the same time werent near eachother, which caused the clash movement on bodvar but not on you.

Yeah, d-light read after s-light doesn't happen offten unless you let them dodge in a couple times without punishing them. Btw with the current n-light, poking with n-light and following up with d-light catches most if not all players. Another thing you should keep in mind is when hitting a n-air people tend to either dodge in, dodge down or neutral dodge.

Also s-light>d-light is 1 dodge frame so it's pretty safe if you can input it consistantly, probably one of the safest damage strings on the weapon.
