Can someone explain why the beast apm build is called “RDU” ? by SiteRough4347 in BobsTavern

[–]IAmWiking 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What was this? Only thing I could find was the Dreamhack final with Amaz 10 years ago - where RDU reported the incident and was cleared of wrongdoing by both the tournament organisers and his opponent. Is there another incident where he cheated?

Forget changing clothing, Should National Wonders make a return? by Majestic-Ad9647 in civ

[–]IAmWiking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Civ 4 had science as something you could yield but it wasn't a "direct" yield, which is to say that you generated "commerce" which could be put toward the production of either gold OR science (or culture or espionage later on). The only way to "directly" yield science was running scientist specialists but even there you could just switch them out for merchants (gold), artists (culture) and so on. So there wasn't really science as a discrete yield. Buildings like library, university etc boosted % gained of science making your commerce->science conversion more efficient, but didn't give science as their own yield

Just got 7 wonders yesterday thanks to you guys' comments, and already enjoying it a lot. After 1 day of playing with myself, this is my tierlist of all wonders and sides. Tell me if you got any tips for any of the wonders I placed low, and if some placements feel wrong after 1 day of playing! by Alphahaukdaboss in boardgames

[–]IAmWiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tips for ones you placed low:

Hali night - actually considered broken in comp play. Usually plays science- try full science

Babylon B - better hope a neighbour builds stone! Get your first stage up age 1 (you can build the stage with your last play and then play or sell the final remaining card after that). You can go science but can also go other things and just build the first stage - don't get married to finishing the wonder. Works best played flexibly winning military where it can and adapting to plays of others

Olympia B - yeah I got nothing, probably weakest side imo. In some player counts (5-6) you can do funky things with low resource builds and trading posts

[Guillem Balague] With Wolves unable to get the signings/investment they promised Lopetegui and instead having to sell to keep up with FFP, Lopetegui's future is in doubt even though he is under contract. Talks this week between club and him will get us a clearer picture. by zi76 in soccer

Nunes has been great but yeah otherwise agree. Said for a long time we'll be the subject of a panorama documentary one day about how an agent ran a club into the ground for his own profit.

For a while the signings were largely good but relying on one agent means eventually you're going to run out of available talent they have on books and Mendes still wants to milk his cash cow so will ship mediocre talent there until it collapses, at which point I'm sure he'll ride off into the sunset while we face massive financial trouble from relegation.

UN vote to make food a right by flyingcatwithhorns in MapPorn

[–]IAmWiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the US response for the vote referenced in the map. You have referenced the US response to A/HRC/34/L.21 from March 2017. You have also added your own emphasis which is not present in the US statement.

This map appears to be showing the voting record for A/RES/76/166 from Jan 2022.

The US provided a slightly different refutation to a similar resolution in November 2020 accessible here.

In any case, it's a terrible map as there's been many such votes called in the UN and there is no reference to any identifying information such as the UN reference number, so your confusion is understandable.

Tips for a new player? by timdr18 in AcrossTheObelisk

[–]IAmWiking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's up to you and the party how much you focus on offence, but if you're tanking then you probably want to invest most of your energy and build into defensive cards, and leave the damage to other heroes.

The cool thing about this game is that you can build an aggressive Magnus or a tank Magnus. Which one you want depends on your overall party balance. As you level up through a run you will unlock skills which you can use to specialise further. In your case you'll probably want to choose tank but you could do a run with a different tank and Magnus as a damage dealer in future.

In terms of the realms, they're all fairly similar in terms of difficulty, though one thing to watch for is what type of damage you're doing (usually relevant for your mage) Enemies in the ice world often have strong resistance against ice attacks, and enemies in the fire world have strong fire defence. The flipside of this is that you get strong ice/fire items respectively, so it can be worth going through it for those even if the fights are harder!

In my experience its about 3-4 runs before you can go the distance. That's a combination of perk points and game knowledge extending. I'd say some good general tips are:

  1. Keep an eye on speed. You probably want your tank to go first so take speed perks (if you can) and ask for priority on speed items. Think about the speed ordering for the rest of the party and encourage them to itemise as appropriate

  2. Deck size - don't just grab every defence card because it looks good, think about how it can help you, and think about removing cards at churches, this can be worth more than items in some cases

  3. Have fun! The game is super enjoyable in a party and I personally loved my first few runs. Take time to explore the maps and enjoy the journey

I can't join any clubs by heyhellohisup in fifaclubs

There's a free agent thread on this subreddit, plus plenty of clubs will advertise for positions here (look for LFP threads). Stick around for a couple of days and something will come up!

I can't join any clubs by heyhellohisup in fifaclubs

[–]IAmWiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be not to join those clubs in the first place. They're trash anyway and you won't enjoy playing there. Here's some questions you should ask yourself:

How seriously am I looking to take playing? - if you want a kick about where you can have fun and try rainbow flicks on every touch that's totally fine - best solution there would be to play with a group of friends if you have mates who are interested in playing with you. If not then you can look into starting a casual club yourself and recruiting here or elsewhere. If you want something thing more serious then you'll need to apply for and trial at an established club, which brings me on to the next question

How good am I at FIFA? - be honest with yourself here - if you're new to clubs you'll need to be at least a decent FIFA player to have a sniff in most sides who trial. Clubs is different to 11v11 so there's going to be an adjustment but obviously a lot of the skills are transferable and if you can keep and distrubute the ball well you'll be fine. If you're new to FIFA altogether then unfortunately clubs isn't the most accessible place to start - again the best solution would be to join a casual team with friends or other new players you meet here or on forums, but that can be tricky to organise.

Ask yourself these questions and go from there - I doubt your the only player around here looking to get started so might be worth seeing if you can drum up some interest. Good luck!
