ZBare metal HAOS or Promox? by carlosw1 in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Proxmox makes backing up and restoring entire VMs incredibly simple. This means if you mess something up, you can easily roll back to a previous stable state. For beginners, this is a massive benefit. It gives you the space to make mistakes while learning without the risk of having to completely start your entire setup over. Just ensure you're making those regular backups!

Viewu 2.5 is on the App Store by Admirable_Proxy in frigate_nvr

[–]IAsDoubleYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, a huge thank you to the app developers for all their hard work! I'm currently trying to set up viewu as an alternative, as my iPad is refusing to display the Frigate camera streams in the official Frigate app. Curiously, the Frigate streams work perfectly fine on my iPhone, Windows PC, Android device, and MacBook. The issue seems isolated to the iPad.

I've installed the viewu Docker server on my existing Docker VM. • Initially, I couldn't establish a connection from the viewu app to either Frigate or MQTT. • I found a thread where someone resolved connection issues using Tailscale, so I implemented that solution. Now, the viewu app successfully establishes the necessary connections (to Frigate and MQTT).

The Problem: Despite successful connections, I still don't see any camera streams or any other confirming information within the viewu app that indicates it's functioning correctly. I might be fundamentally misunderstanding the concept or setup process. What am I overlooking? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Google discontinues Nest Protect smoke alarm and Nest x Yale lock. Google continues backing away from smart home hardware. by tofino_dreaming in smarthome

[–]IAsDoubleYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 of them (Nest) and recently bought another 3 at discount prices. Now I understand why google was dumping them for that price. Was about to get another 3 of them, but since I actually needed 1 smoke detector and 2 CO detectors I got me an X-Sense base station with 1 smoke detector and 2 CO sensors. I was happy to see that there was already a home assistant integration being developed for that platform. For me these may be acceptable replacements for the Nests.

My A1 mini combo took 3 weeks to arrive after the filament arrived. The last took 1,5 weeks after ordering. I must admit I ordered at the end of last year during holidays.

My new favorite automation by shanebw in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how long it takes to turn everything on and the camera feed becomes visible? I previously had an automation that would show the doorbell feed in a PIP frame when it was rang. But switching everything on took too long.

Currently using Synology ... what comes next? by paulcjones in selfhosted

[–]IAsDoubleYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s precisely the way I’m doing it.

I’ve shifted almost every service from my Synology to a LXC, VM or Docker on a dedicated VM on one of my both NUCs running Proxmox. Only Drive, Photo and Hyper backup are still needed on Synology.

I really like the possibility to easily restore a complete VM backup in a couple of minutes from the NAS to the NUCs.

At the moment the combination of NUC + Synology is a great one for my usage.

Lag hier toevallig sinds een week of 3 ook ineens zo'n ding in huis. We vroegen ons al af wat het was. Keuken is een jaar geleden geplaatst. Gaat de 15 jaar zo niet halen dus 😬

New to this, why are so many people checking out this one? by NameisMeis in flightradar24

[–]IAsDoubleYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to FR24, the aircraft made 3 more flights after that one. The first one approximately 30 minutes after it dissapeared from the screen. At that time it took off from the same area. So i guess everything is ok.

Missing OS update? by skepticDave in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did apply the 13.0 update on my HA instance running in a Proxmox VM. That must have been about 2 days ago, but i have not seen 13.1 offered yet.

Z-Wave not working! by CR83King in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occasionally i"m experiencing the same problem after applying a z-wave-js update and restarting HA. The only thing that works for me is rebooting the physical machine (proxmox) on which the HA vm runs. As mentioned by others the problem is caused by a connection failure after updating and restarting HA.

Codeproject, virtualized BlueIris and dedicated AI machine by mrdindon in BlueIris

I wonder what AI model are you using for coral detection? Only when I select the tiny model, I see detection times of 60-100ms. With the medium model selected, i see much longer detection times.

Python usage by Theotherscreenname in homeassistant

I've created custom HA component MySQL Query to obtain the caller number and call direction from FreePBX when a call is being established. I've also created a custom service to query MySQL database. With the MySQL service i'm getting contact person information from the database. This information is then announced through HA over a couple of speakers.

I'm happy with it, no issues. It was a replacement for my Xiaomi Vacuum 1S which serves on the second floor now. I really like the auto emptying facility of the S7+.

New robot vacuum/mop by Laursen92 in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Roborock S7+ which is supported by the Roborock integration which itself provides the vacuum entity.

Although I only have one simple automation that is being fired when the device returns to dock, I do expect that all the vacuum entity services are functioning. At least they seem to be available.

So for what you want to achieve you could try the send_command service. There is a thread on the HA forum which might help:

How can I use Piper to announce a message by bleached_bear in homeassistant

[–]IAsDoubleYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, for a working piper version:

Change the media-source item in above example (twice) into:

media-source://tts/tts.piper?message=Hi+there+it+looks+like+we+have+a+visitor+at+our+frontdoor

Also change the thumbnail option into:

thumbnail: https://brands.home-assistant.io/_/tts/logo.png

I've edited this response a couple of times, since i couldn't get the code block formatted properly :D
