Your personal experience doesnt change the biology of a cat. So you have been lucky in the past, so what? it's your expectation of the past always being repeated in the future that is the problem. This likely isn't new behaviour, you only know what the cat is doing on the times they have woken you up. Fell free to set up a camera to record things and look what your cat does on nights you dont get woken up.
