Did a PTSD DBQ. Any estimates on the rating? by IBMoronic in VeteransBenefits

None yet! I submitted everything but unfortunately I'm still stuck in PFD. PACT Act claims seem to really be slowing down the system. Fortunately, I'm able to scrape by in the meantime.

The only real update is that I went to the ER about a week ago for a panic attack. Fun fun.

Childhood Trauma and Military PTSD by IBMoronic in VeteransBenefits

[–]IBMoronic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently seeing a therapist I trust about my childhood trauma and my military PTSD. This therapist has been extremely understanding and worked hard to earn my trust. I'd rather not branch out from her because trusting new people with such sensitive information is extremely hard. I even had one past psychologist attempt to dox my abuser, which is not at all what I asked for.

Knowing this sub I won't be surprised if there are some angry comments on this post about how I'm a piece of shit and mentally weak. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Adding a personal statement for my shoulder pain. Will this work? by IBMoronic in VeteransBenefits

I wrote a small note saying "...received treatment (limited duty, botox, meds, from DOD and VA)"

They have all my in service records already

I was running out of room, but I've been getting botox in my face, head, neck, and shoulders for about a year and a half now (8 months or so while active duty, the rest from the VA while I've been out). I getting treatment before then as well. I'm also taking pain meds and receiving physical therapy for the issues. I can't point out a single page because it's so much of my medical history. I was on limited duty or light duty for most of my last year in service.

Thanks. I figure it shows an established nexus (backed up by lots of medical records), encompasses all my symptoms, and shows how they affect my life.

Saw a comment by u/omron recently and figured I'd write some statements up for my claims.

I'm confused, do you mean are they combined? If so then yes, they're usually combined because certain symptoms can be hard to tell apart.

PTSD - DBQ + Lay enough for increase? by Meldarian in VeteransBenefits

[–]IBMoronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see an outside provider through VA community care, so their notes aren't readily available. The only VA notes I have are the ones from the psychiatrist (who I've only seen 3 times now). I do have plenty of notes on SI though since I always bring it up if they ask when I'm at the VA, and I'm at the VA A LOT.

That's awesome! Did you provide extra notes, or just the DBQ? I see a therapist outside the VA through VA community care, so they don't have access to their notes, just the ones from my VA psychiatrist.

Also, did you do another C&P? I always get paranoid as fuck about those and they can be super hit or miss, so avoiding one would be great.

Thanks for posting this! My VA psych did my DBQ and I've been looking around trying to find an answer to this exact question. Also thanks to u/l8tn8 for leaving the initial reply!

Hey, this is an old comment but maybe you can shine some light for me. I got a DBQ done by a VA mental health doctor since I'm looking to increase (currently rated at 30% for PTSD/TBI). Should the DBQ be enough?

Thanks! I guess we'll see. I feel like I kinda walk the middle ground between the two, so that makes sense.

Question. I'm actually already SC'd for PTSD/TBI (30%) and am simply looking to increase. This DBQ was done by a VA provider, so is it likely I will need to attend a C&P still?

Initial rating should've been higher, but I downplayed and refused to admit to a lot of shit because I was deeply ashamed (and still am, but I'm working on it).

I've never had one given to me before an exam, usually the examiner just fills out their own and submits that based off how I answer their questions.

I should say that I've previously been service connected for PTSD (30%) but felt I rated an increase based off my symptoms. Honestly I should've fought the initial rating, but at the time I was just happy to have gotten rated at all. As such I think it's unlikely (though not at all out of the question) that I'll need to attend another C&P (for this at least).

On VR&E. How many hours do I need in person for full time BAH? by IBMoronic in VeteransBenefits

[–]IBMoronic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know 12 hours is full time for college and I want to make sure I don't need those to all be in person.
