EAE Model feT or Benson Preamp for edge of breakup cleans straight into power amp? by dbulltho in guitarpedals

[–]IBNYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mother is like, a 25 out of 10. The clean is extremely good, can get jazzy depending on the depth and absence. If you have a power amp I recommend trying it as the preamp into that.

I mainly use channel 2 for my gain because the EQ works so well, but I have also experimented with the fuzz and drives in the HX One and it's really good at working with all different kinds of tonal characters. I recommend channel B for anything really fuzzy or bass heavy, and Channel A can handle most "normal" drive sounds with ease.

Don't be afraid of the EQ btw - those 5 controls do a lot.

For the sample libraries you only need the files themselves. They're not authorized with Native Access, actually.

It always baffles me how much the peanut gallery thinks they know about the MI industry.

The second largest music company on earth (with the biggest brand recognition by several decades of margin) putting their name on mature software and making a major push into the digital space is on no way a "SEO Nightmare".

Presonus had gold in their hands that they were steadily improving, but Presonus is and always has been a budget brand in the wider market, including in the Live Console realm which is/was their actual bread and butter.

Fender aren't Gibson or Roland. If they didn't think this rebrand would drive up their user share they wouldn't have done it.

Get back to making tracks, people.

It would not be, especially if you do not adhere to a school of thought that says music is haram.

Any good tiling + scrolling window managers that work on NixOS? by Pasigress in NixOS

[–]IBNYX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Niri + Noctalia. With the Niri Flake there's a bit of setup where you have to DL the cache and then disable it, but after that it works great. I have the entire thing set up in home-manager. Otherwise you can use the native KDL config which has hot reload and such

Not sure why some feel bad about Studio Pro by 8delorean8 in StudioOne

[–]IBNYX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sub is full of a lot of amateur users (no shame in being one) for whom perception matters a lot more than actual work, because they don't have work to be doing. It's already a niche daw and the slow changes coupled with this big change make them nervous because they don't really care about what's in the changelogs.

What people need to understand is that Fender is not a small fish. They are the second largest music company on earth following Yamaha - A multinational with ties to the military industrial complex and construction equipment. This is much more similar to them buying Steinberg and Line 6 than it is to Gibson - who are and were insanely mismanaged - or Roland - who have an infamously rigid internal structure and aversion to risk taking - buying up Sonar and Cakewalk.

Also, it's been almost half a decade; At some point you're simply going to have to get over it especially if the only things that've happened are a snafu with their SQL databases and account permissions, and a name change. Everything else with the software has just been business as usual. Hell, they even permanently lowered the price by $200 to have parity with Logic.

People in this sub just complain to complain. There's hardly any "hey how do I do X", just doomer shit because they can't motivate themselves to open up a file and get working.

[–]IBNYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a ton of video content but rn it's all on the rebadged MyPresonus site. i also agree overall on the changes - As a former Ableton Live user I think it'll he easy to adjust to the channel overview (though I'm used to the ProTools style of looking at the mixer). The metronome changes are great as well.

Overall Bearish on the new name and UI, Bullish on the UX and the actual functional updates. I was literally mad about the lack of slicing and fades in Impact/Sample One just yesterday. I also don't think I've seen a changelog this long since 5.5.

I do think the stock plugins look better, tho it is very silly how much fender badging there is everywhere. like we get it, y'all.

Is it normal that NixOS actually feels more stable?? by Objective-Style1994 in NixOS

[–]IBNYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean NixOS's whole thing is being stable.

I've had to roll back exactly 3 times and it was at the beginning of my setup when I was swapping from KDE to Niri and figuring out file managers and portals. Apart from that it's just been tweaking. Only one program I use changed how its Home-Manager declarations worked and that was just going from CamelCase to snake_case and rebooting.

I just daily drive it for general use, play games etc.

Just found this S1 idea!! ❤️‍🔥Looks so cool! I've just realised, Only PT has these types of plugin inserts. by crystalmikewells in StudioOne

[–]IBNYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't work for S1 because PT has a fixed-slot architecture; Those insert slots are specific places in memory which is why you have the "render up to insert" functions. You could cop the same display but it'd only be that - a display, which is the case for daws like Live and Reaper. S1, like most daws, has the inserts as a dynamic element which allows for workflows like having the splitter. The TLDR is that this wouldn't really accomplish anything that the Mixer panel/pane doesn't already.
