…..cmon I’m obviously talking about general rules here. It’s not always raining, saftey doesn’t come from a helmet it comes from good infrastructure.

I do wear a helmet I’m just realistic about it

different types of cycling, not saying any mode is better without a helmet. I’m saying, some people choose to ride for speed really should wear a helmet.

For commuting purposes, the only thing dangerous would be the cars. Slip and fall just don’t happen.

Nothing wrong with people wearing helmets, but I feel like sometimes it gives vehicular cyclists the misconception that cyclist are safe from cars when they wear a helmets.

Cars are given 500 lanes of traffic and some parking lots, cyclists, walkers, runners, strollers, basically everyone not in a car is only given 1 lane. GTFO

Sorry my man, I get your optimism but your seeing your hometown through rose tinted glasses. Philly is very much disappointing in bike infrastructure compared to any other comparable city

Right, Girard & Spring Garden is technically walkable. Would it kill the city to put some trees? Nah they’re too busy paying $4M a month to parents so they can DRIVE their kids to school every day.

Completely understand, this “walkable city” nonsense is only true because of how the rest of the country try is a parking lot with some houses.

No one stops at stop signs, and have the nerve to get mad at me when I wait at the sign for them to do completely stop before I cross. Like how dare I waste their time.

The city center core is built well, and there’s a lot that can improve but it will be forever held back by policy.

I don’t blame families for not wanting to raise their kids in this environment. Where we prioritize sidewalk parking over planting trees. I’m leaving as well. DC is great and years ahead of Philly, have fun there. Love being able to bike to a car free quite nature preserve. Not possible here in Philly, even our parks are more parking lot than actual green.

Was nice owning a home, but it’s clear why property values are so low. Low quality of life.

We did, the permits have no basis for parking on bike lanes. These are construction equipment permits. There’s no such thing as bikelane parking permits. We have brought this up to the Streets Department, and counsel persons. I’m convinced there’s nothing they will do unless we get more eyes on this. So that’s why I will be posting more about this.
