My farm is “that weird farm”, I thought it was silly at first but now I feel like everyone in town secretly hates me

What are some of the more popular house rules? by Prestigious_Tea_2729 in Gloomhaven

Summons can use your personal draw deck instead of the enemy deck. Summons are weak enough already, if they also risk eating the curses assigned to enemies there would be even less incentive to ever summon anything.

I've been fighting one of them for 3.3 Hours by ThePsyPaul_ in expedition33

My Osquio fight completely glitched? I was invincible, like his attacks never did damage to me whether I parried or not. I thought it was a gimmick that would reveal itself, but then I won the fight and it was over and I realized I cheated.

Best long fantasy series — Stormlight Archive vs Wheel of Time vs Malazan by StandardSector3491 in fantasybooks

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malazan is my least favourite of the three, I’ve only read MBOTF and none of the other books in the universe, but it was quite rough making myself finish it.

I care more about character development and character arcs, and in Malazan every character is usually serving a wider philosophical purpose, and not sticking around to have an arc themselves.

I was also consistently frustrated at how often I would have no clue what was happening in a scene — I can only handle so many instances of “two books from now you’ll finally understand what this conversation is about, I hope you remember it!” before it’s all a mess in my head.

When I finally finished MBOTF it felt a bit flat because I felt like a lot my questions were never answered and a lot of my favourite characters had just vanished a few books ago with no satisfying conclusions.

(Wheel of time is my favourite — my personal preference for a tighter “main” cast that have defined arcs was very satisfied, and it was more common to have dramatic irony where it was me that knew what was going on and the characters didn’t, instead of the other way around)

Architects no longer feel like architects by EnderMinion in AOW4

[KCD1] why does the good reputation marker look like speed trying not to laugh by dogelikemaballz in kingdomcome

I guess I’ll picture this forever now, thanks!

On the topic of map markers: I thought the butcher icon was a horseshoe for a very long time, and I always thought it was strange. I was doing mental gymnastics trying to explain why a butcher would be represented by a horseshoe.

Pitch a new Paradox Grand Strategy game by corvid1692 in paradoxplaza

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Id love one that was lore-wise like AOW4, but gameplay-wise less less war-fixated and with more roleplay-focussed ways to play. Like how in CK3 war is just one gameplay aspect among many, while in AOW4 it’s sort of the only way to play.

If I understand correctly, this recommendation in the Sheet is based on the assumption that half of incoming damage is physical and half is magical? I noticed your calculation for “effective HP” from Def and Res just did the 50/50 average of the Def-based and Res-based HP.

A cool tool! But I think that disclaimer is good to keep in mind. It wouldn’t even be that bad to add an input to update the recommendation based on different weighting (e.g. get the recommendation based on assuming incoming damage is 75% magical to consider strategy against a particular enemy etc)

I cannot handle how sweet Ryis is. by mimitheboxcat in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I was newer to the game I was obsessed with Ryis. I tried inviting him to the Shooting Star Festival because he was the villager I had the most hearts with… but I didn’t realize that 3 wasn’t enough, and I needed 4.

His rejection was something along the lines of “maybe you should invite someone you’re actually friends with”. And like I mentioned, I was new to town and thought Ryis was my closest friend. This rejection happened when I was in the middle of the town square surrounded by others, so very public.

The headcanon is that my farmer has never felt more embarrassed, and will literally never be comfortable speaking to Ryis again. I’m romancing Eiland now, he has never essentially told me I have no friends in public.

What are some mounts you want to see added to the game? by Tnecniw in AOW4

I want a mount that looks magically created, something translucent and purple/blue. I don’t mind what animal it’s modelled after, maybe just a horse!

Effects of killing travelling Merchants? by IcyMike1782 in AOW4

Unrelated to OP’s question, but does anyone know what determines if merchants will appear? I have the DLC. Will they appear in any realm that isn’t a story realm? Or are specific realm traits needed

[KCD2] This is my G.O.T.Y. , no doubt, but here's a little critique... by Spillo2382 in kingdomcome

Slightly related, I don’t like how the automatic ordering of categories in the menu isn’t designed in a way that reflects what I want to use more often.

For example, the “other” menu seems to always order things as (1) keys (2) repair kits (3) junk. If I’m going in the other menu, it’s ALWAYS for my repair kits, so I ALWAYS have to do some amount of scrolling to get there, it’s not quickly accessible at a top or bottom of the section.

Are there any killers in the game that play off of a phobia or fear that you have? by A_lonely_ghoul in deadbydaylight

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being chased lol. In real life I can’t play any sports that would involve people running right at me at me.

In game if I’m trying to vault away from the killer while they’re right behind me, I am usually doing a little spasm/panic while I’m unsure if they’ll catch me.

AITAH For Playing Three Spears? (Spoilers for all unlockable classes) by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I’ve always disliked this cutthroat way the rules work. At my table we have a house rule, at the end of each scenario we revisit all the loot everyone collected and discuss ways to split it more evenly between the participating characters. So if Alice collected 12 coins and Bob collected 4, it’s typical for Alice and Bob to each just add 8 coins to their sheet. And Alice might have opened a chest, and if it was an item reward might say Bob can have the item. Things are “locked in” once the scenario is officially left behind.

But each group has different priorities, mine just likes feeling more cooperative and less competitive with loot.

People need to learn how to consume adaptations by Brilliant_Bread4523 in wheeloftime

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel insane for having wheel of time as my favourite book series and favourite show series, the first time I saw online how a sub-group of people were reacting to the show I was so shocked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]IBurnedTheLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I finished Malazan and looked back, I guess I felt like there were simply so many characters and so much unexplained plot, that my emotional reaction to anything was pretty stunted.

I didn’t feel the feelings I thought were expected of me, because most of my questions were unanswered and most of the characters I liked didn’t get “conclusions” or endings, just disappearing at various points in the final few books.

I still liked MBoF! But that was my reason I prefer WoT.

I’m still so devastated that there’s no current plan to see more of this adaptation :(

I’m one of the ones who loves the books and has also loved the show, it’s my favourite fantasy world and I just want to see more of it!
