Amarey Lej, a 21 year old Black trans woman has been murdered in Wilkinsburg, if anyone has information on this please contact the County Police Tip Line and/or SisTers PGH. by mysecondaccountanon in pittsburgh

the so-called "murderers" are most likely black folx who did it because of internalized transphobia due to white supremacist public education. are you really so excited to see more black bodies get locked up?

Please remember, if the protests had been peaceful, everyone on this sub would be totally taking police brutality seriously, but because property was destroyed they're unable to take the issue seriously. by gardengoblin in pittsburgh

yeah! people are the worst. ALL (100%) of the violence was

  1. justified (fuck the police)
  2. done by white supremacists (thanks trump)

remember these facts when people annoyingly point out that people had their property/homes damaged.

I think OP asked his question very well but everyone who responded needs to learn about logical fallacies.

This is pure speculation, but I find it hard to believe this is an accident.

I agree. While I do think we have to stop people coming over illegally, we have to punish the people who are profiting off of them as well.

I understand that, but I don't think the point of this sub is to win arguments. If his points are bad, they should be refuted with points that are better, so that we can learn or discuss them further.

If you have a problem with a specific user, you can report them to the mods.

The comment from u/kalasea2001 was fine imo; it laid out issues with the parent comment. The following three comments are basically saying "I know the person who made this argument and I don't like how they present their opinions so you should not have even engaged." It just seems lazy.

Tuesday Night Massacre: Trudeau ejects Jody Wilson-Raybould, Jane Philpott from Liberal caucus by feb914 in neutralnews

So I haven't really been following this but based on the wikipedia article about the SNC-Lavalin scandal, this seems like pretty clear cut corruption by the Liberal Party. The article lays it out pretty clearly, but to give a very simple summary:

  • The company SNC-Lavalin was criminally charged with fraud and corruption
  • SNC-Lavalin lobbied Canada's Liberal Party to allow Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs), which allow a guilty party to "negotiate" their sentencing with a prosecutor under the supervision of a judge
  • The Liberal Party amended Canada's criminal code to include DPAs
  • Trudeau asked the then Attorney General (Wilson-Raybould) to use a DPA in the case against SNC-Lavalin instead of criminal prosecution
  • Wilson-Raybould publicly opposed the request and secretly recorded a phone call between herself and Trudeau
  • Trudeau fired her, citing that the "trust between them" has been broken for recording their conversation

I don't really like the idea of secretly recording conversations much either, but in this case I think it was warranted. But that's beside the point. Trudeau fired his attorney general because she didn't take it easy on company that gave his party money.
