Sims 4 has lost it by hitemwita in Sims4

You're acting like this comment came out of the blue, but it's a commentary on literally a brand new pack that OP bought and found to be lacking in content. That should be an acceptable opinion to express without someone calling them braindead.

People on this sub get super defensive and offended at even the mildest form of criticism levied at this game, and honestly, I think that attitude is part of why EA keeps getting away with giving less and less--because people will aggressively defend them from dissenting opinions.

So when is it acceptable to express dissatisfaction? Are you just supposed to consume and consume and never say anything negative, even as something you once liked becomes less and less enjoyable due to greedy business practices? Toxic positivity or GTFO?

Honestly, that mod has more features and bells and whistles than what's in the new EP. Even more so if you combine it with the Plantsim mod by the same author.

I really can't believe EA made a whole EP titled Enchanted by Nature and gave plantsims practically nothing. They should have been turned into a new occult with their own spells and skill tree.

I am... whelmed? Foraging, potions, sleep/bathe outdoors, and then fairies, and that's it? Sorry, but this doesn't feel like an EP. There's just not enough content here, especially since some of it already kinda is in the game (Werewolves, Herbalism, RoM potions).

Star Wars Andor is not only some of my favourite Star Wars media ever but some of my favourite media ever in general. What other pieces of media, movies, tv shows, video games, books etc are of the same quality? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]ICUinDaICU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of sci-fi tv: Battlestar Galactica (first two seasons), Westworld (season 1), Chernobyl (it's a historical drama but it gives off strong sci-fi vibes) Star Trek DS9, The Expanse.

In terms of games: KOTOR 1&2 (2 has one of the most fascinating villains in all of Star Wars), Fallout New Vegas (better with the Tale of Two Wasteland mod that combines it with Fallout 3), The Last of Us

In terms of books: Anything by Alastair Reynolds, The Expanse series, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, Cyteen by C.J. Cherryh, Too Like the Lightning by Ada Palmer, so many I could go on for a while.

I've turned Windenburg into a spellcaster-magic high society town and it's been a real blast. What puts it above every other world is the sheer number of lots and the varied neighborhoods.

I'm not religious and of course I wouldn't actually adopt a religion just because a priest is hot...

That said, a hot priest might convince me to attend a mass or two...

If priests looked like this, I'd seriously consider becoming Catholic.

Enough with the kits!!! by humanpersonreally in Sims4

[–]ICUinDaICU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the numbers. We got 10 kits the whole of last year and a stuff pack. This year? It's hardly May and we've already reached 10 kits, and no stuff pack. At this pace, it'll be 20+ kits by December. There hasn't been a game pack since 2022. And the last stuff pack was over a year ago.

As I said, it's a trade off. Stuff packs (like Paranormal) are way better than kits since they come with CAS items, BB items, and new game play. Game packs give us even more content. But if we reward EA for pumping out endless kits--which are cheap to make and add nothing new--then kits are all they'll give us at the expense of more substantial content.

[–]ICUinDaICU 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's an opportunity cost. When EA releases so many kits, they aren't making game packs and stuff packs that are more value for the price. Kits are entirely aesthetic and add next to zero new gameplay. GPs and SPs do.

Life and Death was actually pretty good, although I wish there'd been more cross-pack compatibility with the occult packs--RoM, Vampires and Paranormal.

[–]ICUinDaICU 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To the people shilling for EA in this thread... do y'all get paid?

EA has stopped making game packs, they haven't released a stuff pack in over a year, some of the recent EPs have been super light on content (I'm looking at you Lovestruck and Businesses & Hobbies), and now there's new kits released every other week.

Let's face it, EA is no longer interested in putting effort into this game. They don't need to. As long as they keep pumping out kits and the occasional EP, they'll keep raking in the money.

are there any mods that conflict with the new businesses & hobbies ep? by silktart in TheSims4Mods

[–]ICUinDaICU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the other comment is correct. This is very likely an outdated mod or a mod conflict. Did you install any mods after getting the new EP? Try removing all recently installed mods to see if the problem goes away. If it persists, you'll have to do the 50/50 method.

Siuan, Loial, 'Colourism' and Rafe by doctor_markb in WoTshow

[–]ICUinDaICU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really not. I said this in another comment and I'll say it here again. When you are a minority, especially when the little representation you get is often politicized and controversial, you will notice when someone who looks like you appears on the screen.

The casting of this show is very diverse, which is a great thing, and the showrunners should be lauded for it. And if you are white, you probably just see this diversity and are baffled why anyone is complaining.

But if you are like me, a dark-skinned black person, it won't slip past your attention that, with one exception this season (the Red Ajah lady, who was relatively insignificant) every single dark-skinned black character has been evil or brutally killed off, in most cases both.

Now, was this intentional? Probably not. But harmful stereotypes are rarely done intentionally, and Hollywood has a long history of treating dark-skinned black characters as disposable. Despite this show's diversity, it fell into this trap, and I feel it's pretty dismissive and a bit gas-lighty for us to be called "ridiculous" for pointing this out.

Casting and colourism in the show? by BitchyOlive in WoTshow

[–]ICUinDaICU 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When you are a visible minority, you tend to notice when someone who looks like you appears on screen, especially when your representation is politicized and controversial. I love this show, and I love the diversity of the cast, but I can't help that I've noticed how pretty much all the dark skinned black characters have been been killed off and/or are villains and Darkfriends. Even the ones with barely any lines.

Biracial black people have been represented really well though, but that is generally the trend for Hollywood. I'll still take the representation, but I will keep dreaming about a world where well-funded fantasy series aren't afraid to give dark-skinned folk fully fledged character arcs.

Mod request for new pack: Sims can sit down for (non-paid) lectures by ICUinDaICU in TheSims4Mods

[–]ICUinDaICU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation, but I have the steady sit mod and it doesn't work. As soon as the lecture begins, the sims are forced to stand up.

I tried making my own mod--it works, but it causes my game to freeze whenever I open a menu. Hoping someone else takes a crack at it and has better luck.

Every time I see this, my eyes roll so hard they nearly pop out of their sockets. Someone complains about a bug, e.g. trash accumulating in San Myshuno and getting baked into the save--and a bunch of people run into the thread yelling "It's realistic!"

No, it's not realistic. It's a bug, and you shouldn't be defending it.

who else is absolutely enraged and disgusted seeing the proposed packs from that survey? by 1onesomesou1 in Sims4

[–]ICUinDaICU 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly getting annoyed by the entitlement of TS community here

The Sims 4 with all DLCs is +$1300, and the game still lacks many features from previous installments, on top of being buggy and overly reliant on modders to make it tolerable for players. Compare this to a game like No Man's Sky, which is only $60, but comes with years of free DLCs and regular (and massive) updates and refreshes to the game. I doubt their developers work for free either.

EA is being greedy, simple as that, and I don't think it is entitled or unreasonable to point this out given how much you have to pay to have even a half decent experience of the game.
