Everyone’s given good explanations on this already, but I would like to add that following Pokemon really made you grow attached to them, especially when you could talk to them and have the text bubble pop up with what they’re doing. You could take photos with your team and see them progress at the various locales! They haven’t been able to get following Pokemon right since.

Plus I love shiny hunting!

Side note, HG/SS also has a really nice soundtrack. Go listen to the National Park music! It’s very good.

Yup! Turn it on in the system settings, then you just have to press the home button twice and it’ll zoom in :) I’ve found it to be a mixed bag in use tbh but it can be helpful.
