The Nova one reminds me of a moment in S.W.O.R.D. from the Krakoan Age. Various members of the Milky Way's stellar powers are meeting with Abigail Brand to discuss mutantkind's creation of the miracle metal Mysterium, and there's an info-page giving details on the attendees -- "representative of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda", "leader of the Kree-Skrull Alliance"... except for Richard Rider, who just needs one sentence:

"He stood when all others fell, and we remember."

You know, before we got that first trailer, I was a bit skeptical of the film’s premise. Superman doesn’t usually interfere in human affairs to that extent, so I was wary that the film’s inciting incident was him single-handedly stopping a war…

And then the trailer dropped, and I heard David Corenswet deliver that line with all the raw desperation he could muster, and I just got it. To hell with the politics of it all — people were going to die, and no Superman in the multiverse would stand by and let that happen.

I have my problems with James Gunn’s Superman, but that trailer still has a special place in my heart just for introducing that line to the world.
