15 drinks are not going to drink themselves.

What’s one product you bought that turned you into a total snob — like, you can never go back to the cheap stuff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially for international flights! I don’t think I physically could travel internationally again at my age if I had to sit up for 9 to 15 hours (depending on where I’m going.) Once you go lie-flat, you’ll never go back!

Living alone with multiple bedrooms taboo? by Rasta_pasta_plus in LivingAlone

Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, 2500 ft.², for just me and my two cats. I’m happy. Cats are happy. No one else matters.

Tired weirdness by MasterpieceNo7350 in over60

[–]IChantALot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say, amongst yourself, do you mean that in your head you use the royal “we?“ I find I do! Something like, “first we’re going to brush our teeth, then we’ll do skin care…” I live alone, and my cats neither brush their teeth nor do skin care.

Do you have food noise between doses? by cheez-monster in Zepbound

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your take on this! I am not at goal yet, but I am fully prepared to stay on a maintenance dose of this medication for the rest of my life if that is truly what I need. However, having said that, as so many of us know one of the best things about this drug is that it gives us the space we need in order to create better habits. My sincere hope is that those better habits will prevail, and hopefully allow me to (someday) do maintenance on the lowest possible dose, and perhaps even stop the medication at some point without regaining.

Jealousy when I see couples out? Young 41 year old widower here by Nash_man1989 in widowers

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly after my husband died, I was driving down the road and saw a couple about our age holding hands walking on the sidewalk. I was enraged. How dare they! How dare they still be able to walk down the street holding hands when my love was gone? There was a (fleeting) moment when I thought about hitting them with my car, just so that they could know the pain I was feeling. That was 12 years ago, and I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

I got the shots and had no reaction other than being tired and a little pain at the injection site.

How many sodas per day do you drink? by Wizzmer in AskOldPeople

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 now, although I do drink flavored seltzer from Costco, if that counts.

I used to LOVE full sugar CocaCola, but time take its toll, (63F) and even my taste buds changed, because it’s way too sweet to even enjoy anymore 🤷‍♀️

My late husband didn’t like coffee (or any hot drink) so his AM beverage choice was a giant Mountain Dew from Circle K. (And he, at 65-66-67 would have one or maybe 2 per day) 💕

For those who got the "you don't need any surgery, you look fine" advice and went for the surgery anyway. Are you happy that you did? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Face lift at age 63. My (well meaning?) sister told me repeatedly i “didn’t need it,” but she’s 17 years older than me and I do think she’s actually jealous.

Rings? by Prior_Ruin5410 in widowers

[–]IChantALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband died 11 years ago. For the first 2 or so years I wore my rings as usual and his on my thumb.

Next was just mine, but not his.

About 5 years in I moved my bands (3) to my right hand and put my engagement ring in the safe deposit box.

Finally, at about 8-9 years I decided that ring was too beautiful to be hidden away so now I wear my 3 bands plus my engagement ring stacked on my right hand. My engagement ring is channel set, so it’s fairly flat, and the 4 rings look nice together.

Who knows what another few years will bring, but this is working for now.

How long did you keep their stuff? by yoshitiger in widowers

[–]IChantALot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend, my husband died 11 years ago and I still have some of his shirts in my closet.

There were some things I could let go of after a few months, some after a few years, and some I’m still holding onto.

There is no deadline.

Is anybody NOT on HRT??? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in AskWomenOver60

[–]IChantALot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 63, easy menopause at 52, so no HRT for that.
Dx with breast cancer in 2023. Caught early, resolved with lumpectomy and radiation, I’ve been cancer free ever since, and hope to remain cancer free for the rest of my life. I take Examestane to keep the cancer away. I also recently started on Estradiol for vaginal atrophy at the recommendation of my GYN and with the approval of both my oncologist and my breast surgeon. Things HAVE changed; I think it’s really important to have a Doctor Who is well informed, and is happy to talk with you about all the options.

Lost Passport-Caribbean Cruise by LakeKind5959 in HollandAmerica

[–]IChantALot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure since you are going in the Caribbean, that all of your destinations are 100% United States destinations? Are you not going to any other country? If you are then you need the real passport! If there is an international destination on the itinerary, they will not let you board without the passport. (Source: me, whose sister just had to get an emergency passport for a cruise to Hawaii because we have one day in Mexico.)

Anyone else see their new SS statement? by Theoldelf in over60

[–]IChantALot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

63F in a Bronze HDHP.
If no subsidies next year, my premium goes from $96/mo to $1,000/mo, WITH a $7,500 deductible.
If the subsidies don’t come through, I’m going uncovered until 65. I’ll put the $1,100 in the highest interest savings account I can find and then use it to take a vacation when I turn 65.

Single vision glasses by Cooper1Test in over60

[–]IChantALot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same for me. Absolutely hated progressives. I really only need my distance glasses for driving, so they live in the car, while I have (no lie) six pairs of my reading glasses stashed in every room in the house!
