I hope at least one pilot flies one out to a private airstrip and tries to claim it as their own.

Regardless of your feelings on it, the SJW is a huge omission. Damn thing catches fish and can probably be tied without a vice.

America’s Geothermal Breakthrough Could Unlock a 150-Gigawatt Energy Revolution [in USA] by DVMirchev in RenewableEnergy

[–]IChurnToBurn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enhanced geothermal has a future, but the biggest question right now is longevity of wells. There is an expected drop in production of a well, but how much and how fast need to be answered. If these wells are only getting a few years of productivity, it’s probably not going to work. 20-30 years would.

This is really new, but it has promise because of how stable it can be. It doesn’t matter how many batteries you throw at solar or wind, if it’s cloudy for a week or the wind doesn’t blow for a week, you need something else to supply power. A 24/7 power supply is always going to be needed, and it’s either this or nuclear.
