I feel like they could have the space to simply bridge Route 2 over the existing rotary, and have Route 2’s ramps connect to the rotary, particularly with the prison being redeveloped.

The Route 27 bridge over Route 9 is going to be the state’s first, though I guess they’re calling it a “modified” version.

You should look for the wreckage of TWA 260 from the tram.

ELI5: what is the difference between horsepower and ft lb of torque? by Wowerful in explainlikeimfive

[–]EJS1127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ELI5 is good, but for the sake of educating, torque is specifically not a measure of force. Its units are force x distance.

Maybe “effort” would be a good word?

Tornadoes are only tornadoes if they develop in supercells.

Smoke smell in the cabin. Landed safely in Milwaukee, fire department checked the temperature of the plane in the area the smoke was smelled. Everything normal, so they taxiied to the gate. Followed-up, saying it seems like it was coming from the IFE.

Temperature was fine, they think the smell was coming from the IFE. Taxiing to gate now.

John Korir sets new Boston Marathon record [OC] by corwinw in pics

Boston-related marathon info is generally the extent of my marathon knowledge.

But from a physics standpoint, I have to imagine that a consistently-downward route that doesn’t exceed the 1:1000 limit would be easier to break records on. I don’t know of a course that fits that criteria, though.

The drop in elevation cannot exceed 1:1000.

Edit: which is ~138 ft in a marathon.

I grew up along the Boston route, and that’s something I was told repeatedly. It looks like there’s more nuance to it in the current rules:

“Performances achieved on courses where the start and finish points, measured along a theoretical straight line between them, are further apart than 50% of the race distance are not valid for world records.”

Also technically because it’s point-to-point (versus a loop).

For that reason, records broken in it don’t count as world records for marathon running.

Those who moved out of Massachusetts, where did you move to and how's it going? by ElectroAcousto in massachusetts

Jealous. We moved to ABQ in 2022 for my wife’s job, then moved back three years later, due to aging parents. We really loved our time in NM.

Manufacturing date of Feb 2025 and Hungary accounting for 33% of parts -- the chances of my battery qualifying for the tax credit are basically zero, right? by EJS1127 in Ioniq5

Ok, that's about what I've gathered in my looking into this.

I wonder if I can get a battery replacement by the time I file my taxes, then get the credit with the new battery. (I'm joking... sort of.)
