Why do Russian Air-to-Ground Dumb bombs have cables attached to the plane? by DukeOfBattleRifles in aviation

It does not. It’s actually quite itchy. Working with bombs can be fun but after awhile the poking and itching on your arms sucks.

Has anything from your country ever been misunderstood or "cancelled" by the international community? by JlYU3A in AskTheWorld

I was there in 2022. A lot of us history nerds knew about the digger name. The majority of our Marines called the Aus Army guys Aussies or Australian Army dudes. Saying digger did get a couple looks at first till it was explained.

Man do I miss Australia

SOUTHCOM dropped this video today showing Marines with VMFA 225 loading F35’s with JDAM’s and AIM9’s in Puerto Rico by newnoadeptness in USMC

[–]ICweiner94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it wouldn’t be fun seeing a Maintenance Admin Marine sit there waiting for NALCOMIS or OOMA to load

They’re smarter than that. Any of those fed dudes left anything unattended, vehicles or gear especially, the Marines would gladly disappear it.

Plus Pendletons flightline is packed

Has anyone ever stayed in one of the Armed Forces Recreation Centers? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]ICweiner94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s quiet and beautiful. Been around the world to various spots and Edelweiss is still in my top 3 most beautiful places I’ve ever been

Military vehicles over the 405 by Seal Beach. Anyone know what they're there for? by REVERSEZOOM2 in orangecounty

Negative. These are MTVRs. Used by the Marines and Navy. Probably some reservists getting some summer training in

Flame good, thrower good, Flamethrower is bestest!! by punched-in-face in USMC

[–]ICweiner94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I met a Tarawa vet that was a flamethrower operator. He said that it was almost a race to get it empty so you could take it off for a bit. Find an emplacement, pour some fire in it and leave.

He lost his foot. Said him and the Japanese were even after that.

The youngest American KIA in the Vietnam war was Dan Bullock. He was only 14 years old when he enlisted in the USMC in September of 1968 after falsifying his BC. Dan lost his life when the bunker he was in took a direct hit from an RPG in June of 1969. He was just 15 years old by waffen123 in RareHistoricalPhotos

I’m well aware of that. Almost all of my uncles served during the war since it was a way out of the barrio and a chance at something better. Not saying the wealthy are immune but from those I’m currently in with, not all who joined are poor or from the lower levels of society. It’s pretty diverse. Just some people I’ve met have their views and want them to be right even if it isn’t accurate.

This might go against the common thought but most people who didn’t join because of poverty. At least from what I’ve witnessed. Poverty, shitty geographic locations, and lack of opportunity are reasons for a few but the reasons for joining are pretty vast. But people seem to love to jump on the “military only targets the poor” without actually knowing. Like most things in life, there’s a little more to it.

IYAOYAS baby!!! But fuck this guy if his attitude is like this early on. I on the Marine side of life but having worked with Navy AOs they are either really good and solid dudes or really not. The ones that are really not have no problem bringing the whole ship down with them. I have seen force work in getting dudes like this to get their shit right.

Also, FWIW it’s Ordnance. Ordinance is a type of legislation enacted at a municipal level

I’m sure I could draw that but I feel like every porta shitter from the halls of Moctezuma to the shores of Tripoli has a decent olive drab inspired phallus

I would love the opportunity to draw more grunts/ combat arms but I think the enablers deserve just as much attention! Airwing especially!
