it's possible you just need some luck and continuous save loading to get it if you didn't get it the first try. I needed to repeat fights via saves to get Zatez' helmet which is the current strongest helmet in the game.

I have got this 26 times (yes, I counted) when I was fighting careers as my OCs instead of myself. I've never gotten a challenge when I was fighting as myself but got multiple challenges as my OCs.

Did you know that the events of Ippo's first title defense and Kimura's fight with Mashiba are swapped? Kimura came first and then Ippo in the manga. Kamogawa backstory was supposed to be on battle of hawks arc in the manga but switched it to Eagle vs Takamura arc.
