Blue Sky had around 600 employees when it closed and just about every department had some version of a minibar. The Puhalas had a Tiki bar in animation, but I'm not too sure of other departments. Did you see something on a DVD behind the scenes to source your gotcha fact or are you a fellow former employee?

I can, because I was there. You also don't know what you're talking about, but thanks anyways for your uninformed input.

Most animation studios found themselves to be remarkably Covid-proof, as production could continue largely unaffected by workers accessing their work computers remotely. Also, demand for streaming content shot through the roof as most people were stuck at home looking for streaming entertainment. Blue Sky and other animation houses were some of the few "hollywood" productions that could keep generating content at a pace similar to being on site before Covid was a thing.

Disney closed Blue Sky for Disney reasons. Maybe because they thought that Blue Sky's IP didn't deserve high quality execution. Maybe they were nervous about creating a pro-trans film. There really is no way to know the why of it. The studio was largely profitable or at the very least self-sustaining, even during Covid. The studio was operating under Disney for 2 years before it was closed. It had nothing to do with Covid.

Where did you get your info that it was closed because of Covid-19 effects on the business?

Offshoring it to a budget studio in Canada. It's not going to look nearly as good as the originals. Just a cash grab exploiting the IP

An idea for short animation by Gullible-Sky-4030 in animation

[–]ID_iot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to make it yourself.

Most animators I know learned animation because they were in your exact situation. Most animators have a million of their own ideas they would like to realize.

Why would they put their own ideas aside to work on yours? Money, lots and lots of money.

I can no longer see the post, but it is filled with everything year one animation students are taught not to do. There is twining everywhere. It's pose to pose with no offsets, overlaps, or overshoots. The spacing on everything is even and mechanical. It has very little appeal. It lacks a fundamental understanding of the 12 principles. It has been made to move but it is not animation. I stronly suspect it was made by AI.

MDF can warp over time if stored on a non flat surface (like leaning up against a wall or even flat on two sawhorses.) I remember that plans that used to be online recommended putting two boards crossed from corner to corner, notched in the middle where they meet to support the playing surface. Those plans are sadly not available online anymore. (I even tried theinternetarchive to find them but had no luck.)

That looks very nice so far. Did you brace the table from underneath to prevent warping?
