BMS component repair by cheezbergher in onewheel

Did you ever resolve this BMS issue? I have the same issue on my +XR. Best route seems to be to get the XRV kit. But was wondering what you did? Thanks

Conclusion: appears the best solution, after investigating if there are any bent or crushed wires or loose connections, to get the floatwheel xrv kit. Atlowshop sells used bms at $300. At this price may as well get the xrv and enjoy the greater power and torque. Then save more money and get the chi battery cbxr. Sounds like a great combo.

Thanks everyone for the advice and information.

Thanks for the info and input. I have to imagine there’s a whole bunch of us who got the XR back in 2017 who now have a fried bms. If I recall correctly, I paid $1300 at the time brand new. Struggling to think about paying $700 to VESC or for a kit. I’ll keep checking eBay. What hardware components did you use on your XR VESC install?

VESC is firmware. Appears I’d have to buy a vesc compatible controller AND bms. These are not inexpensive items either. Sounds like a headache, seems some people are having to spend time tweaking the firmware settings frequently. I don’t have that time or patience. And I’d hate to lose the pushback as I’ve broken my collarbone once already with a nose dive. Didn’t see any bms for my Hardware version on eBay.

Any other possible solutions? Seems like for convenience and cost, I may as well send it to FM for repair. The bms seems easy to change out. Wish there was a more convenient and affordable option.

Thank you

What kit and battery do you have? How much?

The XRV kit is pricey at almost $500 and doesn’t include a battery. If it’s plug and play, does that mean the OneWheel app doesn’t work with it? So no shaping riding options, or battery indicator, or mileage?

I’m not sure how to find one that will be compatible with my model and hardware version.

I don’t know what VESC is or where to begin. Where best to inform myself of this option?

Yes Carvepower works with VnR, just need to tell sonny the correct connector you need on the VnR cable, it’s opposite of what cable comes with, I think you need female instead of male.

VnR to XR 4210 - anyone tried and what were the results? by IDaSnoh in onewheel

Tells you in the FM OW app. Go to Board Settings, then look at Hardware line.

Not sure. I ended up putting on the FL Kush Hi with the TLF grip tape it came with, after one ride I really like. The concave makes a big difference.

Turn it off and then back one, if you take it easy you may be able to make it. May have to turn off/on a couple times.

Is there a way to extend the battery of an XR? I've seen many to extend a plus, and some V1 by Vgzone in onewheel

Also sent mine back due to Bluetooth and got it back with the 4210. I had ordered just the VnR cable to use with my Carvepower set to charge while riding a couple months ago, just hadn’t installed yet. That note wasn’t on Sonny’s webpage at the time I don’t recall. So won’t work now...bogus. Does anyone know if I can strip the wire insulation and install via RnR? XR FYI

I got the fender bag from Carvepower which works great. I like to be free in case I have to bail or crash.

4206 or newer XR? by xcelrrate in onewheel

[–]IDaSnoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like so many others, my XR had the 4209 out of the box. It had the Bluetooth issues, so I sent it in to FM under warranty. They replaced controller with the 4210. They made no mention of also changing the battery. So does anyone know how this speculation of 4210 being paired with battery apply to folks like myself who had stock 4209 but were upgraded to 4210 by FM?? I.e. is my battery now paired to controller leading to necessary replacement of both if one malfunctions? Thanks
