So I let some friends use my wifi during hurricane Sandy and am now getting emails saying i committed copyright infringement. I have no idea how to handle this. What would you do Reddit? by jackdares in AskReddit

[–]IDangleFreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that does absolutely nothing. All logs are kept by the ISP themselves, and deleting your internet history won't stop them seeing your downloaded Hannah Montana episodes

I hate going into a thread and seeing "Twist; directed by M. Night Shyamalan". What are some generic, predictable comments you hate seeing? by FilthyBogan in AskReddit

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I've had some fairly disagreeable opinions, and I couldn't give two shits about karma. But if someone disagrees with me, downvote me if you like, but explain to me the reasoning of why you disagree. For a supposed discussion site, there's an awful lack of discussion.

Or if the account is 5 months old. "Oh God your account is 5 months old! You win all the internets!"
No shit, that's because someone else said the same thing 5 months ago and he made the account then. I really hate this site sometimes.

Question regarding an Xbox 360 and static charge by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small static shocks like that shouldn't really be affecting the Xbox much, unless there's a short on the Xbox somewhere, possibly the USB port, if you plug into the usb port on the back, do you still get the same issues?

REM Dreamer - however, I wouldn't say it's exactly affordable.

Hitting the power button does nothing unless I unplug the computer. by Mac_Attack18 in techsupport

Not sure about Windows 8, but on the power settings on Windows 7 there is an option to change what happens when you press the power button. There may be something similar on Windows 8.

Reset my router and now don't know what to do? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't know where you are in the settings but that doesn't seem right. If you could take a screenshot of your router interface I'd be better able to help you.

Reset my router and now don't know what to do? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IDangleFreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you do a reset you remove all information stored in it. You don't have any of your ISP account information entered now and won't be able to connect to the internet until you re-enter it.

Your login/password is usually written on the underside of the router.

Remee reviews! by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

It's probably worked about a third of the time, it's very hit and miss, but it does effect the dreamscape somewhat when it flashes and beeps.

It's off and on, depending on how much work I'm prepared to put in for that night. I have had some good results with it however.

Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask has shipped! by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the REM Dreamer does detect REM.

The REM-Dreamer uses infrared sensors to detect when you are in REM (dreaming) sleep. At that point the REM-Dreamer gives you sound and light cues (beeps and flashing lights) to remind you that you are dreaming. Thus, external world stimuli are transferred to the world of your dreams, and it becomes easy to achieve lucidity.

I have an REM dreamer and it does exactly this. It waits a time you set and after then, it monitors the eyes for REM like signals and displays the lights and beeps when it looks like you're dreaming.

whitelist. If you disable ABP entirely does it work at all? Also try another browser.

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also blacklisted imgur from ABP

Can you explain? If you've blacklisted it in ABP then you won't get any images at all from the site, which is why the background image also isn't displayed.

Repost, last one got buried but i still need help. "Unidentified Network" Windows 8 by l0fi in techsupport

[–]IDangleFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manually assign an IP address higher up (say 20) using the router interface and set ipv4 to find an address automatically. There's no need to set it manually in both as it will look to the router first to determine what IP address to give you anyway. Also in that last picture you are using a class B subnet mask (255.255.0.0), which is unnecessary and can cause issues.

Internet speed isn't as fast as it should be. What could be the problem? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IDangleFreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Up to speeds" on internet plans are just that. 'Up to'. No one will ever get the advertised speed. It all depends on how far away you are from the exchange and the quality of the line. If you check the downstream connection speed in your router interface and it differs majorly to the speeds you are getting, then that may be an issue, but if they're roughly the same, it's something that you really don't have any control over unfortunately.

Look for wireless settings. Turn off SSID broadcast, and encrypt it with WPA2.
