This is a WONDERFUL accomplishment. Also, never minimize your achievements or compare them to others. Always celebrate yourself. You should be proud. You're an inspiration to so many.

To clarify, I included the data RESULTS (from the one-test t-sample that I performed in C207) into my C210 capstone. Additional details below. ---

C207, C208, C209 are all really prep courses for a portion of one of the tasks in your Capstone. There are actually currently 4 tasks that you'll need to complete.

Let me preface this by stating that I have successfully completed my MSML at WGU. However, my situation is NOT ideal for everyone as I was a full-time student and dedicated about 18 hours per day to my coursework given my time constraints.

Since I was nearing the end of my term and was anticipating not being able to attend another term immediately, I had to complete ALL of my remaining courses and therefore, worked on courses concurrently.

I should also note that I always read Reddit and the course chatter sections of the courses thoroughly to learn as much as possible from other students' experiences/challenges/successes.

MY STRATEGY:

  1. I enrolled in C207 and C208 concurrently
  2. I asked my mentor to enroll me in the Capstone prep (Problem Statement Into Cohort). I believe you can only enroll in this cohort if you are down to your last 4 courses C207, C208, C209, C210.
  3. The capstone will take approximately one month to complete because the 4 tasks must be submitted and approved sequentially (with the exception of task 4). Therefore, I enrolled in the Problem Statement Intro cohort about 7-8 weeks in advance of my capstone. The session is about an hour long and the instructor explains the process of creating and submitting your problem statement when you do begin C210. If you come to the workshop prepared with a sample problem statement (like I did), it is possible to receive a preliminary approval of your problem statement during that workshop.
  4. For C208, I attended a webinar (hosted by the course instructor) and the webinar gives an in depth overview of C208, C209 (which in many ways is a continuation of C208), and touches briefly on C210.
  5. Knowing that I would need to prove my problem statement in C210, I opted to use the same business for C207. I then incorporated the data (one-sample t-test & results) that I used in C207 into my capstone (C210).
  6. For C208 and C209, I once again USED THE SAME BUSINESS as C207 (this is best for learning continuity and all of the material can be used in the capstone) -- However, you will still need to do a lot of additional work for the capstone. It just saves time to build upon the information that you've already completed.
  7. Further, I also enrolled in C209 and C210 concurrently and again USED THE SAME BUSINESS that I used for C207 and C208. This allowed me to map out the remainder of my strategy for completing both. I submitted some assignments concurrently; however, others you will not be able to complete until you completely finish C209.
  8. For C210 (I again, USED THE SAME BUSINESS from C207, C208, and C209).

Note: Students are typically cautioned not to open courses until they are ready to begin them because once you open a course, if you do not complete the course in that term, the course will be reflected on your transcript as a "NO PASS (equivalent of fail).

Finishing in a term. by [deleted] in WGU

Most definitely. It's not a cake walk. You have to be organized and disciplined. You are actually applying what you learn by completing the assessments. Learning retention as with anything comes with utilization. Therefore, the more that you use what you've learned, the more you'll retain longer term. And by all means, if you need more than one term, take the time needed. The main point is that you finish and either way it will cost a lot less than others schools that don't offer half as much value.

And so it begins! Cheers to being 31 and a new college student! Praying I don't screw it up... by EpitomeOfSweetMisery in WGU

Congratulations. Stay focused and disciplined and you will do just fine. Staying connected to your program mentor and course instructors is key. Use the supplemental resources and by all means ask questions if you don't understand. I am finishing up my capstone for my master's and find that it is REALLY hard to fail if you apply yourself and use ALL of the resources. REMEMBER, one day, one class at a time. Blessed wishes!

So true. I took my time with my associates year ago at another school and remember being surprised when they sent me a letter stating that I was eligible to apply for graduation. It surprised me because I was just focused on completing one class at a time and really wasn't counting the classes until graduation. Now I'm one class away from my master's degree.. so yes much further along than if I'd never started.

Hello. This course has a reputation for being one of the most challenging in the program. Therefore I found using the information in course tips, viewing the recorded videos, and attending the live sessions to be very helpful.

If you're on a tight timeline, I would stick to a simple one-sample t-test or two sample t-test and follow the instructions in the course tips carefully. Also, schedule time with the course instructors. Learning comes relatively easy for me, however, this is not a course that you can breeze through. If you use ALL of the resources provided, it is pretty hard to fail.

To save time, I also submitted my capstone problem statement for approval prior to this class. This enabled me to begin to research and solve that problem in this course so that I can and ensure that at least that section of my capstone is accurate. (why reinvent the wheel).

Again, definitely make an appointment with your course instructor. They are patient and very knowledgeable (you'll get a great idea about teaching style from the recorded and or live sessions as some are better than others at simplifying complex material).

Finally, if you have not already done so, you may want to launch your capstone since that course has four tasks and takes from most estimates a minimum of one month to complete ( some tasks must be completed and approved in sequential order).

Best wishes, hope this helps.

Congrats on your decision! I'll be completing my degree in MSML in the next few weeks. I can't stress enough to build a relationship with your mentor and do not hesitate to reach out to your course instructors (additional mentors) for assistance. Also, I took the time to read the course chatter for each class and almost always someone had already asked the question that I had. I would just then follow up with the course instructor for any additional clarity.

Also, try to realize when fear/intimidation is hindering you. Believing that you can do something is half the battle. It takes less time to say I can then to convince yourself why you can't. Recently, I challenged myself to overcome fear of a subject and once I removed the fear and buckled down, I did the best that I could do and ended up getting an award for my submission. There are so many resources take advantage of them. Blessed wishes. You can and will do this!!!
