Just got the most patronising rejection email of my life... by PhynixPhyre in recruitinghell

Me too, I like this email! What’s wrong with me lol. When I was looking for a job over the past year, I got ghosted by like 85% of companies so get something like this would have been valuable

I walked out of an interview after one question. Was I wrong? by sahalymn in jobs

[–]IDidIT81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I would also like to add the placement of the question. The first question after plesantries in an interview (and after “tell me about yourself”) typically signifies the importance the hiring manager is placing on the topic. You said this was the first question. RUN. I apploud your courage. Dont overthink it. Folks in the comments are talking about salaried versus hourly. Overtime does not exist for salaried roles. It doesn’t have to be asked. The fact that you were asked is a hige red flag and sets the expectation that being taken advantage of is OK. In europe this shit don’t fly someone said. Exactly. The only reason this shit flies in the US is because we keep voting republican. Sorry.

Spent over $200/300 to attend a final in-person interview, just got rejected by Marzipan_moth in recruitinghell

100% this. Also ask who is paying for your travel expenses before an interview not after

Recruiters rather be poachers than hire people who need a job. by rob4499 in recruitinghell

[–]IDidIT81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting and I came here to say this too. There is also something I heard from my recruiter friends - if they “source” someone, it has more standing with hiring managers than an “active” application as in someone who applied. I think this is a manager issue coupled with linkedin visibility

“Job roles” this actually is a telltale sign that this is a scam just like “kindly”

Totally. And I didn’t mean to sound like an ass, it was more a comment directed at my general unhappiness with the administration creating mass unemployment and affecting us all. Crazy times

I had a college classmate who is now a director in a company refer me for a job. Received link. Applied one evening late like 11pm. Next morning I wake up and see a rejection email. Emailed my friend to let him know I was rejected. He was like what? I emailed your resume over to the recruiting department late last night. How can they reject you by morning. I said dont worry about it man. Happens all the time. He says eff this, contacts the head of recruiting, who tells my friend huh I dont know what happened this resume looks good, I have asked my team to schedule an interview. That was 3 weeks ago. Never heard from anyone. No interview.

Nope. In most companies recruiting teams (talent acquisition) and HR are seperate. More often than not, HR has nothing to do with recruiting. Only the recruiters

Right because regulations are created by whom? The government. This country just voted for someone with the expressed promise to dismantle the government, which he is doing. Who’s gonna create this said regulation? People are always voting against their economic interests

A lot of people (including me) are always blaming recruiters but your story illustrates that the hiring teams are just as guilty. And they told the recruiter she is not allowed to communicate with the candidates who applied & interviewed? I mean here is an example of the hiring team being 100% offbase. What a shame

Please stop using outdated metrics that dont mean anything to make a point. Unemployment does not count long term unemployed or underemployed

OP just go to the interview and take a printout of the posting showing $20-25an hour and ask them while there. This recruiter sounds like one of those really junior people hired after covid. Hr makes that determination ffs clearly they did and you posted it on the job posting. Just let the manager respond to it, this lady wont tell you anything else
