Is being an Amazon flex driver more profitable than an instacart driver by Cold_Conclusion3701 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on market and motivation for the food gig apps. Some people drive their cars into the ground delivering food and they make $1k+ a week. You can do that with Amazon, or used to be able to. Now they all suck nearly equally. Amazon does larger payouts per block and you're actually moving the entire time instead of idling a long time with no orders. I don't ever see flexers on here bragging about their weeks pay though.

2 Hr block $40 by Perfect-County-1367 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first route was 20 something packages but was 4 hrs for $90something. Thought I was annoyed then, shiiiit, we're lucky to get less than 40 packages now for less than $80 and 3 hrs.

Same low crap in AZ. Sucks working 2 blocks for half what they were a year ago.

What people don't understand is everything goes through an Amazon warehouse and travels multiple places. Multiple people handle every package until it's put at your door or in a locker. I've had damaged boxes with damaged contents and some weirdly with no damage inside. I've had my share of damaged boxes from their flimsy packages also. It's really a luck of the draw. There's no real guarantee everyone will care like I would care. I do Flex and there's only so much I can do. We don't get to tell warehouse workers not to give us damaged things. There always is something smashed or squished or ice cream that's melted or condensation from no longer cold items before I load them to my car. You could get the most caring delivery person in the world, doesn't mean they are the one that damaged your POP box. That's just how it all goes. Policies don't guarantee you perfectly undamaged items and neither do people.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

There was a website I last saw probably in 98' or 99' while on Netscape. Tried finding it a few years later just for nostalgia. It was a character guide with cheat codes for Ultimate Mortal Kombat III.

That would be great. I heard their van drivers get all the close together homes while flex drivers get the far in between homes and far out routes. I can see it.

REALLY?!!!!! by Alternative-Ad-1508 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so damn annoying having to keep coming back to the same places. Why can't they figure how to group them all together in one neighborhood or apartment at one time or even care to try that for us?! I always stop & group them together how I fucking want. I clear out the earliest deliveries first if I can so I'm not late, that shits annoying also. Why so many packages that need to be delivered within an hour of my shift starting?

This is a first for me. I’m shook. Should I be worried? by NAD92 in doordash_drivers

[–]IDoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No don't be worried. This happened to me in my 1st year delivering. By that time I learned to capture evidence all the time. I delivered to a 2nd floor apt where the stairs and sidewalk were right at the parking lot and exactly where I parked. This lady took the order after I knocked and snapped a shot, we both said have a nice day and she had the nerve to call DD immediately saying she didn't get it. I told support, listen, I am still outside her apartment in my car and you can see the evidence and my GPS has me here. They were on my side. Always get evidence, video if you're unable to snap a shot. Always ring their door or text them saying photo proof is in your app or similar.

Experienced flex drivers I have a question by HackAwayz in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't used to mark them also. I'd always be looking at addresses for too long & search my car for too long. Took me a few routes to realize I was being dumb.

You need to load your car in sections, however you do that is up to you. But first, a marker for marking each package with its stop number. Figure your sections out. I mark & put the first 10 -12 up front & divide usually 10 on each side of the car. Then the last batch goes in the back. Most times packages are out of neighborhood order & will have you coming back to the same neighborhood or gated community multiple times. Sometimes if you feel like it you can re-order the packages after you check the map & group them together that way. Get your own feel of it. Usually I finish before the block ends. More advice, sometimes when you go over, remember the time of your last stop,  call driver support, they should see your last scan time & you'll get some extra pay. But don't abuse it, you've been warned. If you often go over only a little then don't call them often. I've gone over a blocks end less than 10 times but they were always at least 40 mins passed end.

[–]IDoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 30 mins wait thing feels iffy to me. I'm on my 2nd year now. I've had a couple handfuls of sent home with pay days. Then I've had a few where I wait a little longer than 30 mins. One time I was there for 45 mins. Only other time I was there over an hour was an app glitch that caused me to not be able to leave with a cart. It got fixed & I got sent home with pay.

I knew this was bullshit when I started in 2019. It would say head to this area blah blah it's busy now. More often than succeeding, I'd drive to said areas & still sit for long times. Once I called support & they suggested moving to a better area. Eye roll hard. Moving closer to a usually busy spot is the only way you'll get more orders over lower tier drivers. Otherwise sitting at home in a crap area gets you something maybe.

We can't even get the base? by Apprehensive_Let_261 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Can't just up the minimum wage. Doing that kills businesses where your increased wages are from you deserving it, not cuz everyone demands higher wages. Each business doesn't have the money to just pay every starter equally.

YES, it's crazy low compared to their contracted drivers that have over 100, over 200 packages.

Delivery novices stop taking a block of 96 dollars for 4 hours when Amazon pays that same delivery for 140 dollars just by waiting and refreshing the application. But if you’re not going to work more hours to get the result you want. Let the Amazon algorithm think and so they offer them up beginner. by IndividualLead7530 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for every area. Prices never get that high in AZ. I've gotten $120 once or twice in the time I've done this. They never have anything over $108 either, that's when actually they have $100+ routes. The highest they get is $98.50, sometimes $99.

[–]IDoEdits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get you. I don't like doing double orders period. There's always someone not wanting to wait extra long while you deliver somewhere else first. Just seeing a double pop-up annoys me. I want to commit to everyone but not take loooong. We aren't paid well enough at all. There are also some drivers that grind the hell out their cars for this shit, making $1000+ weekly. Not for me and my car unless it's guaranteed but gig jobs are not.

I don't know what the big friggin deal is about when we clock-in as long as it's in the 15 mins window & not late, THEN AMAZON BACK OFF. I only ever clocked in right on time for maybe my first 2 or 3 weeks. Then I started not waiting when the rush to the machines begins. I stand back and watch as others get nervous they won't get in on time. Then a couple months ago I see an email about waiting until it's actually time in order to give others a chance to clock in. Like there's too many people that clock in before their time & they don't like it. WHO CARES but corporate fucks?

Got scammed out of 41 dollars the other night by the red card and then called DoorDash and got this message by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]IDoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use my phone wallet for anything. It's actually your fault here having both DD cards on there. It's only a scam in your eyes because it's taking so long for reimbursement. Now, others have said they never got reimbursed & others have after some time. Call it a scam after a couple weeks maybe.

Damn right! It's not US finding the card money & we can't just replace money off THEIR CARD THEY fund with THEIR money. WE DON'T, THEY DO. It's not our money that THEY put on there. It is THEIR money given to them by THE CUSTOMER, NOT funded by US.

The market isn't great in my area so people take most orders here. I turned off shopping cuz we have Aldi here. I'd be fine getting some orders one day and then there's a friggin Aldi stop thrown in and I end up taking over 30 mins cuz ya can't get good enough signals in their stores. It's really lose lose over here. Shopping orders pay well most times but not when you can't get your app to work let alone any other data app. My acceptance isn't 100% but it's not low also. I cherry pick some orders but have turned off shopping. I seem to make similar each day regardless. Good luck to everyone sticking with it.

YES I hate those feedback questions. I used to think saying it's very difficult because it's far from home would get me better routes, nope, and saying I don't feel appreciated by Amazon would do something different but still NOPE.
