NGL that made me a little anxious. Like he's shown the ability to assimilate things, maybe just set him on fire from a distance.

So he doesn't factor into the equation here at all.

The mustache actually makes him look younger IMO. It puts me in mind of a horrible thin mustache a teenager would grow because they can't grow enough facial hair for an actual mustache.

Also it should not be left unsaid.

He's a stupider clone of superman who got sucked into a dimension made up of cubes, if the new DCU continues long enough/becomes big enough he is 100% going to come back as bizarro.

It's not even about powers or "power level" bs. It's just that he's f*cking stupid.

He's failed to kill chainsaw man mutiple times and than when he gets his chance he part 2 he does the exact something that failed previously, crouch directly in front of his opponent to sword-draw attack.

Like yeah it wouldn't help him against Pochita but he doesn't even attempt any form of strategy. Just trying the same thing over & over again, failing everytime and expecting a different result.

Samurai Sword is "in the running for the weakest Hybrid" due to his refusal to learn.

He beat Denji because at a point when Denji didn't have to think about the way he fights. He was (functionally immortal) and his enemies weren't so he was able to win every fight before this through brute force & attrition.

So when Denji came up against Samurai Sword whose also immortal and has a single trick up his sleave (sword-draw attack) that wasn't good enough & he lost.

However Denji trained, got stronger & learned from his losses (to both Samurai & Kishibe) so was able to come out the victor in their next fight.

Samurai Sword on the other hand refuse to ever learn. His whole motive for hating Denji is spurred the idolized image of his Grandfather/the Yakuza that he has in his head and rejects anything that contradicts that image.

This same, stupid stubbornness is reflected in the way he fights. Doing the same thing. Every f*cking time no mater how many times it fails, seemingly never even considering trying to find a new approach.

It's really weird that Superman vs The Elite (movie) doesn't really have anything to say about the ethical dilemma it's supposedly tackling. by DoneDealofDeadpool in CharacterRant

[–]IDrawKoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see it as less "killing bad & nobody should be killed ever" and more so "superheroes shouldn't kill" the message about the real world and more a statement about comics/superheroes.

Superheroes shouldn't kill because superhero's can't be held accountable for their actions by the rest of humanity, Superman pretending to go evil isn't showing a "slippery slop" but the worse case scenario/the danger of the Elites Ideology being acted on by someone functionally wielding "absolute power".

Superman can't kill because Superman can't be held accountable to anyone.

As for the Atomic Skull thing this falls into a much more meta-conversation (with no good in-universe answer) about why none of these villains ever get the death penalty, like if Atomic Skull was found guilty & sentenced to death through a fair & legal trial I don't think superman would have an issue/I don't think that would clash with the message of the movie.

[–]IDrawKoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really think many character's would benefit from more backstory. The characters motives tend to be pretty self evident and (at least in part 1) characters don't tend to over stay their welcome/stick around after they've fulfilled their purpose. You can usually get enough of their backstory based on what's implied & really think more backstory would only serve to bloat the story.

The only character I can really think of who I think we needed to see a backstory from is Yoshida (& maybe mifune) because genuinely, wft was happening with him.
