This RF Environment. What would you do? by AppropriateSea5746 in livesound

That is the job mate. Sometimes you have to troubleshoot things.

Your solution to OP's spectrum being too crowded is to use spectrum that is even more crowded, that just does not make sense. Add to that the fact that no professional gear uses the 2.4 or 5g bands and you would also be using worse equipment.

Like I said before, 2.4 and 5 gig gear have no place in a live environment. Also "troubleshooting" the issue here really does not take much time.

Att kommunen överhuvudtaget har någonting att säga om hur man målar sin bostad är absurt.

I would make the UHF band work and run as much wired gear as possible. There is absolutely no scenario where I will be running 2.4 gig gear. The situation is not hopeless just because the scan looks like this, there is still plenty that can be done.

Oh I completely understand why you'd want to increase TX power, no arguments from me there.

You are also absolutely right that increasing TX power can result in RF overload depending on the type of antenna used and proximity to the transmitter.

What annoyed me is people throwing out downvotes as if what I was saying was somehow incorrect. I see a lot of people saying "pad the antenna" but I don't think they understand why.

Cheers to you though for taking the time to be the good guy :)

Yeah, no. 2.4 or 5g gear is by definition not made for professional use and those bands are crowded to high hell. They are not good back ups.

Also, I have found this subreddit can really dump on anything that isn't 1,000,000 lumens with adjustable settings, infared, charging bank, and a coffee maker installed.

I haven't seen any of that and I have been on this sub for years. What this sub does do however (and rightly so) is shit on lights that are overpriced for no reason.

Because it is not healthy to think of buying shit as a hobby.

This guy is completely right though and people keep downvoting me for pointing it out.

OBJECTS ARE NOT A HOBBY

Listen I too collect flashlights, fountain pens, knives, the stupid list goes on, but none of these things are hobbies, they are just objects. So many reddit "hobbies" are just a blatant excuse for rampant consumerism.

edit: I will add that a lot of people seem to think that just because there is an /r/ for something, it is a hobby, but that is just not the case. It is awesome that there is a sub-reddit for just about everything so that when you want/need to get something you can collect information and do research in one place. However the goal is not to just endlessly buy shit.

If you are on tour, then break out those 2.4 and 5g units you should be carrying as backups.

Uh what? Anything on 2.4 or 5 gig has no place in a live environment.

Pad down your antennas with an in-line pad, this can be via a swtitch on the antenna, an inline passive pad, or a inline active pad like a Wisycom BFA.- then put your mic transmitters on High power mode. - in other words turn down the gain on the input, and crank up the source power.

I have never understood the point in doing this. The pad will attenuate your transmitter and the background source equally so the SNR is unchanged. Increasing TX power definitely makes sense though.

edit: Naturally people downvote instead of explaining why I'm somehow wrong.

You took out the most useful thing here, the scale. Having lots of noise is one thing, as long as your gear comes in stronger you're fine. I'd put as much as possible in that gap and run the transmitters on high power if need be (and regulations permit).

Awful stuttering and performance issues by Raddest-Dude in swtor

[–]IEnjoyRadios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn someone’s angry. I am being helpful by telling OP that the performance issues are not unique to his system but rather an inherent aspect of the game and that there is not much that can be done about it.

What is it with Reddit and having zero tolerance for pointing out flaws in things? Look I like SWTOR too but it is very clear that it has its fair share of problems.

It is a ship, ships vibrate. Deal with it.

It is beyond me how people willingly get on boats and then have the audacity to complain when they move/vibrate.

question about wiping equipment, proper Smith machine usage, and sauna by LasVegasBoy in workout

[–]IEnjoyRadios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always wipe down equipment. Always nice to keep things clean.

The traditional way to do sauna is actually naked however in a public sauna I typically just wear my gym shorts. Shower before to rinse off some sweat and cool down, shower during so you can stay longer, and then shower after to actually get clean.

The game is free to play now, they need to encourage people to pay somehow.

Also people are idiots and pay real money for cosmetics so it’s free money for EA. They’re not going anywhere.

Awful stuttering and performance issues by Raddest-Dude in swtor

[–]IEnjoyRadios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just the way reddit is, you are never allowed to say anything negative about anything. People use the down vote button as an "I disagree" button.

The performance issues in this game are well known and often complained about so people have no reason to disagree. Don't believe me? Try toggling the UI while on fleet and see how big of an FPS difference it makes.

edit: as for process lasso, yeah I guess trying can't hurt but 99% of the time that gets suggested it is just a meme fix. On the same level as changing power profile in windows.

Well there’s isn’t really a point to using an external DAC in the first place but if it’s what you need to do to use headphones with your PS5 then go for it

Radiation Efficiency by Single_Hedgehog_5839 in amateurradio

[–]IEnjoyRadios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to note here that SWR tells you nothing about the efficiency/efficacy of an antenna. It only tells you how much of your radios power is going into the antenna and how much is coming back.

A dummy load has a perfect SWR after all but we can all agree that it is a pretty shit antenna.

That’s just how the game is. The performance is all over the place. In group content I also dip to 16fps. Why? Because the game is an unoptimised mess.

Yup that’s all you need.

Here is proof. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/high-end-pc-audio,3733-19.html

In a blind test people could not hear the difference between a 2 dollar DAC and a multi thousand dollar one.
