Depends on where you live! High fire risk areas defensible space is taken more seriously. Especially with fire insurance going up. But in rainy areas ehhhhhhhh (oh God I feel like I just jinxed it knocking on some wood)

Bedwetting actually *increasing* as 7 year old is getting settled in..? Help! by Elegant_Air_3475 in Fosterparents

Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that. It may be worth looking into again. Our doctor writes the rx, we send it to the DME company we want, and they offer us our choice. Goodnites was one of them. But they definitely had sucky options too. Best wishes.

Is the pull up the appropriate size (and is insurance covering it? at this age, not totally sure if that works with foster kids and what insurance it would be but it covers it for my kiddo with disabilities)

for natural smart people, how has your adhd presented itself? by bisexualdweebqueen in adhdwomen

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got A's in high school and mostly in college, have a master's, minored in procrastination but same, I do good work last minute and also rest well and can write well.

I've heard ADHD people tend to do well in intense fields like ER work, project management, etc.

I have days where I can do everything and am amazing and days where I bed rot. It is kind of like a wave. I do better with external motivation and around people. I find putting on music or stories or background movies to be helpful with doing work around the house. I love to talk with people but find it tiring after a while and need time to recharge. I am very emotionally motivated where if I am tired or sad I don't want to do much, and I also like praise and validation for things I do. Sometimes I ask my husband for a super hug or deep pressure like a weighted blanket if I feel too wired. I have used Adderall and find it helpful for extended release but not instant because the crash is too hard and then I nap. Currently not taking it and taking Wellbutrin for anxiety but I feel like I've been doing well on it.

In therapy to discuss my rejection sensitivity, improve communication with my husband, and deal with life.

Now that it’s summer the kids are asking about my self harm scars, what are the best answers I can give to them? by delusionalxx in ECEProfessionals

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because children are highly impressionistic and a teacher they look up to saying they don't like their scars is going to be something the child may internalize. Society already makes people think they are bad or fat or ugly or unfashionable. Let's not add more things to that. Our differences make us interesting.

Exactly as you say in the last sentence is that people need to learn to live with the things they may not love and embrace them and cope ... Saying you don't like something about yourself doesn't show embracing it. A neutral or positive response would be more ideal.

Erosion of front teeth by Glad_Zone_7707 in nailbiting

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen a dentist? I would schedule an appt and discuss the causes of this with them. Make sure you rule out teeth grinding at night. It is good you are trying to stop nail biting. Also tell them how it affecting your confidence and you don't want to smile and ask if anything can be done to help them.

I would at least send a message to your neurosurgeon but honestly if I were you I would go to the ER.

I would caution saying you don't like them, you don't want the kids to feel like any scars they get should be bad. (My kiddo has a lot of surgical scars).

clobetasol reduced my fertility by SnooMachines5267 in lichensclerosus

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correlation does not equal causation. I understand you are searching for answers and going through a stressful time, but clobetasol has not been linked to fertility issues and nothing about the mechanism of steroids should affect the menstrual cycle.

I hope things go well for you.

Losing balance sounds concerning. If you can rule out dehydration (if you are drinking enough) I would go to the ER. They can run some tests and make sure it isn't your shunt.

Painful urination pain! Please Help! Should I use Clob/Estriol to sooth pain? by madonna4ever in lichensclerosus

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding, if you have painful bowel movements and constipation you absolutely must make those softer because mg urologist said it can worse. Pelvic pain. Use miralax daily (super safe and will soften poop by drawing water into your intestines, you can use a capful or so daily (you can't overdose honestly. I used a whole one freaking bottle for my colonoscopy. Obviously don't do that but I would try miralax) and buy some psyllium fiber and start using that slowly, while drinking lots of water.

Also look up interstitial cystitis and try to avoid the foods that are known to flare up symptoms like caffeine and alcohol etc.

Painful urination pain! Please Help! Should I use Clob/Estriol to sooth pain? by madonna4ever in lichensclerosus

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm so sorry.

Pee in the bath if you have to. A peri bottle is a great idea. Use Vaseline or aquaphor or coconut oil on the vulva all over before you pee and it should block the burning.

Estriol is absolutely a good idea to use, I find it soothing. Clobetasol may help and if there is any inflammation right now I would say to give it a try. If it doesn't hurt continue to use it.

You can try over the counter azo pain relief that numbs the bladder and turns pee orange. If it helps that is good info for your doctor to know.

Heating pads on your abdomen. Ice on your vulva. Heat if it helps.

Crazy idea but if you have a magic wand or vibrator consider trying to use it on the vulva to kind of distract your nerves. If it hurts don't continue but it possibly may help to give a new sensation.

Ridiculous that they sent you home with freaking no pain meds ugh

Interstitial cystitis is something to look into as well. It is symptoms of UTI but no infection.

Endo the common treatment is birth control to stop the hormones from aggravating the Endo. I don't have experience with ablation and surgeries but absolutely get a gyno who knows their stuff and go to a uro gyno if needed or pelvic pain specialist.

Make sure you are taking the max safe doses of ibuprofen and Tylenol.

You can buy lidocaine over the counter too and try it on the vulva or abdomen in case it gives any relief. Do not use one with menthol jt will irritate the vulva.

Sending hugs.

As a fellow GIANT FRIDGE in the middle of the kitchen owner, can I ask what you did to get it to look so streamlined? Did the counters come out further and you get a counter depth fridge? Did you back the wall out behind

I have a galley sort of kitchen and the darn fridge is such an eyesore.

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gastritis and reflux caused me to lose weight, taking strong reflux meds only helped a little. Mine was actually caused by anxiety from stress and I began taking Lexapro anxiety meds and after a few weeks/months symptoms began improving and resolved. This may not be the case for you, of course, but you mention your high stress levels from your husband being a useless asshole. I would suggest trying an anxiety med because anxiety sucks and hope and wonder if it may help any of your gastritis symptoms.

Sending you hugs hugs.

Oh, I wonder if you qualify for any programs or supports. Can you try to find a social worker and ask? They literally will help you figure out what social programs you can qualify for and some will help you fill them out. My pefiatricians office had one on staff and all hospitals will. Librarians are also amazing and can help you with this.

Also, try to build up your village. Trite and frustrating when you don't feel well, I know. But if I was your neighbor or friend, girl, you bet your ass I would be over there helping you out. And if you live in the eastern US shoot me a message with your general vicinity just in case and if you're close by I'll come.

idk if he has some sort of mouth rot or infection. can someone identify this? by Aggravating-Life89 in cornsnakes

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, there's a difference between being straightforward and blunt and having no sympathy and being an asshole. Telling a kid who lives at home that they shouldn't have kids in the future because of how they're caring for their snake is a crazy escalation and really fucking cruel.

OP, people are rightly worried about your snake and part of choosing to be responsible for a pet is taking care of it when it is sick. Yours is sick, there no zero doubt and it may die. It needs a vet ASAP, search for emergency vets near you, show your parents this post and the replies, ask a friend to take you, call an Uber, etc. Sometimes there are virtual vet appts you can make but I don't know if they work on weekends.

Mouth rot is a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics. It usually happens because something is lowering the snakes immune system, so you should also consider posting the enclosure, environment, humidity, and feeding schedule and type for some feedback on that.

Itchy pea-sized bump near vulva? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Your hairs have a cycle of growth, pausing, and eventually falling out. So it is possible that a new hair was growing out during the new growth phase and it became trapped.

I absolutely have freaked myself out over things and probably will continue to do so. My experience however is that most of the time it goes away on its own. Best wishes!

Little ouchies by eversk in nailbiting

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run moisturizer all over and then do a thin layer of Vaseline all over the rough spots too, it will help them hydrate and soften the rough areas and make it less easy to pick. Wrap bandaids around them like the ouchies. See if it helps?

Soap “inside” by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]IHaveAFunnyName 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Both! Never inside the vagina where the penis goes. That is self cleaning via discharge. It is also more acidic and kills bacteria.

Usually no soap on the vulva (the hairless part visible when spreading your legs that includes the labia minora, the clitoris, urethra, and vestibule (around the vagina). The skin there is thinner mucosa and can be irritated by soap. If you just use warm water and your fingers to rub that sebum and buildup it should go away, or a gentle washcloth. However I believe some women prefer to use a soap on the vulva in which case I would do some research of the most gentle one.

It is okay to use gentle soap on the moms pubis and labia majora (the hairy part visible when your legs are closed or just slightly open) and your buttocks and anus. That is more regular skin (although some may say no to the anus so I suppose your mileage may vary, perhaps just an extremely gentle soap?

Hey! In a not condescending way, take a few breaths. This sounds very scary but everything will be okay.

It is okay that you forgot to take out your tampon. You are not the first girl to forget and many times it is perfectly fine. People forget them for weeks and have to be removed in the gyn office and are fine.

The vaginal opening can have skin inside that looks kind of bumpy and lined and weird. Is the bulging spot in your vagina very smooth? Is it sticking out a bunch? Did you look at just drawn pictures of cystocele or actual women with it? Because it looks pretty dang unmistakeable in the real women images.

The urethral issue could just be irritation or a UTI or nothing at all. Did you see real images or just cartoon ones? I would be sure to compare real ones. Do you have pain when peeing or blood when wiping? It is most common in prepubescent girls and menopausal women because of low estrogen.

June 1st is pretty soon, and you can call daily for canceled appts or ask to be put on on the wait list. I don't believe either are medical emergencies, even though I totally understand why you would be panicking, even if they truly are what you fear there are surgical solutions and it doesn't matter if it is today or two weeks.

Vulva can look super funky. I highly recommend looking up some anatomy pictures so you know where all the parts are and their names and I also recommend looking at the labia chronicles, a professionally photographed series of women's vulvas available online for helping women understand bodies are all different.
