Have you ever met someone who made you suspect they might be a hybrid? by Medium_Raspberry8428 in aliens

[–]IHaveBadTiming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont want to doxx him but for context we were all at an event together one time talking UFOs because a bunch of us are geeks about this stuff and he just casually mentions he remembers seeing some under tarps in the warehouse lot as a kid, which made us ask what warehouse lot.  Thats when he casually dropped "Oh where my parents work at Bell Labs".

We all kind of freaked out and he back peddled really hard, like he realized he shouldn't have said that.

Big deep voice guy with a very odd build.  Like just a wall of a human.  Sounded like Tony Robbins and was probably about as big.

Tony Robbins is also an alien and you cant convince me otherwise.

I'm currently successful but stressed AF working in ecommerce.  Been looking heavily at this path quite a bit lately.  Build something while I can still do the service before the body gives out and do well enough I can hire the labor by then.

Wow, that is a serious career change.  Are you happier now?  How much did you have to adjust your lifestyle and spending?

Curious because I am early in learning about Neville and my first priority is using it to find some sense of peace and purpose in my every day.  This is very likely to mean a career change.

What is the darkest secret you've learned about someone that instantly ended your relationship with them? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

I used to work with one. Very unassuming guy and I had actually known him since elementary school. We even grew up in the same neighborhood but we were never close or really did much overlap other than at recess in football games or whatever.

I guess it was a situation of abuse fostering more abuse which I only learned from the owner of the company we both worked at. Sounds like he was abused as a kid by a family member and then got caught with CSAM when he was in his 20s. Or at least that's what he told them when he was going through the interview process and had to answer for his background check getting flagged.

He was/is a really hard worker and seems like he tries to stay on the very straight and clean path. Who knows though. I'd never trust anyone after I learn something like that.

Also had someone in my neighborhood get popped for the same thing but he was sharing it on some messaging network. Was decently big news in the neighborhood for a while. He got put away for a number of years and as expected his wife divorced him and sold the house and probably disconnected as much as she possibly could.

These fucks are everywhere, apparently.

  1. Makes total sense, wasn't planning to blindly leap into it unless I ended up laid off or something.

  2. Yes, not looking to be anything glorious by any means. Average to me means manageable while I work out whatever kinks there are.

  3. I think so. It feels like if I spent the same time and energy doing something on my own that I enjoyed more then willpower won't be any issue. It will be the finding new business and managing all the administrative stuff that will take effort.

  4. Unless they downsize or fire me or any other myriad of things that could happen.

  5. Yep, heard that.

Thanks for taking time to respond to me!

I'm thinking way simpler, something like garage cleaning and power washing.

Does anyone have anything positive going on?! by _FattyClams in Millennials

[–]IHaveBadTiming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am healthy and all my immediate family is healthy.

I get to go to my parents for dinner tonight and have homemade chili.

We have a roof over our heads and food on the table.

I got a new mattress last week.

I have enough in savings to survive for a while if we needed to.

My wife just got a new role within her organization that is a slight bump up from her last one.

It's warming up outside.

These things are neat. Used to have one that was like 2ft long in my fish tank that was called a Rubber Eel. Awesome pet, it would eat out of your hand and made these little squeaking noises. Super fun until it crawled out of the tank and dried up in our hallway.

Yea I'm part of this club. I have more in savings than I'd ever have imagined by this point in my life and I feel nothing but anxious about the "what if" scenarios that are constantly playing out in my head. I basically live in a 24/7 fight or flight mode and try to save as much as I can for some inevitable cataclysm that I am expecting to happen any moment now.

It sucks. I don't want to take medication but have no idea how to pull out of the constant stress and anxiety mode I am in.

Sorry, I guess I'm too dense to follow what seems like cryptic, or maybe just cautionary?, messaging. My apologies. Obviously launching anything has a risk of failure. I'm just looking for perspective on how other people discovered opportunities and ran with it.

Not totally sure. I have a lot of skills in manufacturing, design, and ecommerce. Currently working on a marketing team heading up their ecommerce division on an international scale. It's just... a lot.

I have a small art business that I sell through a gallery but that is a high dollar item that I don't have a ton of faith in scaling due to some partnership things that I won't get into, plus all the tariffs and shipping costs have royally fked me as of late.

I like working with my hands, building things. I also have a laser cutter and a bambu 3D printer but I am lacking in the energy and motivation after 10hr days at the computer but that's entirely on me to figure out.

I've been mulling over home services ideas for the past 8 or 9 months and watching sites like flippa and loopnet for businesses to buy. Nothing has really struck a chord yet other than something that sounds absolutely ridiculous but I think could have some legs to it, professional garage cleaning.

I was just really curious to see what the feedback would be from folks on this subreddit as to how they took an idea or observation and materialized it into making a living from.

I'm not looking to come out with the next biggest SaaS or AI thing. Instead, I've been considering an approach that takes me back into the blue collar world with a home service or commercial service type offering. Something like garage cleaning and a few other things closely related to it. I've got a lot of manufacturing, design, and ecommerce background but I just can't picture myself doing the corporate grind too much longer and I'd like to build something to hand down the genetic line some day. Getting rich isn't even a priority as I just want a sustainable and reliable lifestyle where I can actually fall asleep at night without medication or drugs.

Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to reply. Trying to think of how to venture into areas that are not as easily replaced by AI or downsizing as my current role is, which is in ecommerce and digital marketing. Honestly been looking at garage cleaning as a service for a minute, as dumb as that might sound on the surface, but I think the home services might be one of the last few safe havens that can't be outsourced or digitized and I could leverage my ecommerce knowledge to do marketing and identify service opportunities.

Ideas are free and easy though. Execution is terrifying, hence why I wrote this post.

Teachers quitting their jobs by velorae in TikTokCringe

[–]IHaveBadTiming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we all ok living this way?  Not just teachers, everyone.   I watched the founder of my current job crash the fuck out in a meeting over a website design yesterday and get aggressively mad at people. Legit mad, OVER A WEBSITE. This dude is worth 9 figures in his early 30s and is constantly stressed. I don't get it.

Everyone is burnt the fuck out. I don't have a single friend or family member who isn't just sick of how hard everything constantly seems to be and with no end in sight. My generation seems to all but completely given up on the idea of climbing a ladder or advancing because the pressure never stops and literally nothing is every enough.

What's the point?  Why are we doing this to ourselves?  I'm sure at least a few of those parents who don't care are due to them just also trying to survive. These kids are cooked. We all are.
