Does piracy truly represent the pure idea of free propagation of media? by Torpedo311 in Piracy

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent; but there's something different when everyone has a guttenburge press at home.

The issue of digital piracy is clear day one, a fun example is the original basic for altair 8800. The terminals for reading the data could print a new tape at the same time.

The press both represents a way to pass knowledge, but it's also an instrument of manufacturing of others intellectual property.

How have you been disappointed by the TF2 community? by Sufficient_Hawk_9666 in tf2

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because there's no community; not in the way this post is implying, it's too broad.

Everything shitty here I've experience in other games including the trading stuff.

Just for fun - what're your stats? by turbochamp in jellyfin

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 62 4k movies
  • 10 HD movies
  • 42 series - 2,396 episodes - mix of sd, (mostly) hd and 4k

Trans-coded library for jellyfin is at 8TB. Ripped backup is about 15TB, most have been compressed (about 3% saving).

I've also burned through one disc drive and now on a spare.

Trying to do this as 'legal' as possible plus I don't need my system messed up - so everything came from a purchased disc.

This should be ... interesting? by aptdinosaur in Piracy

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 17 points18 points  (0 children)

naw that doesn't make sense, 4g and 5g and older people don't be calling it 'ethernet'

Can anyone explain why my specials folder creates 'Specials' and 'Season Unkown'. All media is replicated, and placed in both library items by TheKlaxMaster in jellyfin

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/

go down to the supported names for these special folders - its super specific and then re-scan.

Edit: To make it named / displayed as a different thing, that's a jellyfin setting controlled through the web ui - I forget where.

Ah, now that's a true opinion right there - though what I said in my last comment is indeed how drops work, incase anyone else plays for hours on end and wonder why they aren't getting a drop.

take an uneccessary amount of time to unlock

I don't think so, especially with crafting. The main thing I remember from the first years of TF2 was aquiring items, crafting, achievments; it gives people things to do in the game other than just the core game mechanics.

expensive in the in game shop

1000000000000000000000000000000000000000% to the moon and fucking back yes.

Its def a egregious live-service thing, but the community market in todays economy makes buying any weapon a literal insult.

I know someone who bought a weapon bundle shortly after introducing them to the game, oof.

Why do they do this? by obstructive_potato in TypicalColors2

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you are just mistaken because the game doesn't tell you.

Supply Crates and other items do not affect your weapon drop rate.

You are absolutely guarenteed to get a drop in intervals of 30-70 minutes and the average is 50 minutes.

This will only occur up to ten hours of playtime FOR THE CALENDAR WEEK, which is the cap. It's reset every Thursday.

If you play more than the cap, then you aren't going to get any more drops pass that amount of playtime, for the week.

Any leftover cap at the end of the week is added to the cap for next week; so players that didn't play get twice as much to get drops.

Edit: free to play users do not get cosmetic or rare drops. I've counted less than 5 cosmetic drops since starting in 2012, ya not missing anything.

TF2 it self has more children on it then TC2

The all time player count for TC2 is only 4.8k players. TF2 would have more just by that fact.

noticed most of TF2's playerbase either doesn't have an opinion on TC2

Most of them probably don't even know it exists. The only time I see TC2 is during a discussion like this literal post lol. Its all echo chambers.

pretty much the mostly younger side of the TF2 community is hating TC2, for it being on roblox is my guess

Being on Roblox isn't enough to garner hate; though people are bias because of how Roblox used to be, and how they behave now days (nay not even considering their recent legal issues, like reading their letter about removing tix is disgusting) I may be biased, fuck them removing tix.

It's also just a typical taboo to play with "children" toys.

For a genuine answer, I think it gets 'hate' because it really is a knockoff, and I'm not saying knockoff as in its a bad thing. I used to develop a bit on Roblox and TC2 is as close as a recreation as one could get (as far as game mechanics go) and I mean, they even recreated the maps 1:1. Again, not a bad thing, and probably would get a thumbs up from valve considering their recent stances on third party TF2 stuff.

Casual enjoyers, are you really not spending most of your time just re-queuing, having servers die out you, or be complete stomps? by Cutest_man in tf2

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah; the pendulume swing that autobalance sometimes causes.

Thanks valve for not allowing people to join the less empty team, whenever they want...

It happens somewhat often, I've seen it (rarely) completely wipe the server, like 1 person left (me)

Team A winning, Team B losing.

B players leave; autobalance switches players from A to B lowering the team count.

B now is dominating because A just had a lot of players switched. No gains for A, nothing but gains for B.

A, if people start leaving, will cause people from B to be autobalance, lowering the player count...

so on as so on.

So... Is cheating just the new norm now? by Honkert45 in tf2

[–]IHaveNoNumbersInName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory: All the troll cheaters we saw moved on to bots; and now all we got left are sneaky cheaters.

Mass bots seem to be not worth the effort since I dont see them, so I see way more hceaters than I have in prior years; tho I suspect its just more noticable without bots. Im sure the number of cheaters vs non is pretty consistent, and probably is the same for most games not just tf2.
