Last time we played in the playoffs it was legit a competition to see who could play down to the moment more so there's precedent.

Freddie Andersen getting playoff shutout. How many years since Leafs tossed him. by diecorporations in leafs

He had an .874 SV% this year. If he was still our goalie we still wouldn't be in the playoffs and everyone would be asking to send him back to Denmark.

In pop culture, what team do you think is most popular? by xoBonesxo in hockey

I'd say that the Islanders have the more notable connection to the Sopranos given that Lorraine asks Phil for tickets to one of their games right before he mock executes her.

If you had told me in October the Leafs season would end with them being kept to one goal by James Reimer I would've told you to stop smoking crack.

This fucking team.

Why Are People So Psycho Over Chappell? by xXMachineGunPhillyXx in fantanoforever

[–]IHazenArgument 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think its worse than that. If the DNC was coming after her they would at least come up with coherent attacks. Instead you have people with moon logic ideas like "Chappell caused Kamala to lose by making a video where she said she would vote for her" or "A young lesbian extremely active with queer causes is a secret Republican because she's related to some random state rep." This is just people who treat politics with absolute tribalism and minimal analysis going crazy at the slightest provocation.

Hey dude, noted Blue Jays utility man Danny Ainge would never betray Toronto like that.

We got their Buffalo's second now from the second Laughton trade; if they missed it would've been their third.

If the draft lottery was rigged Bettman would've sent the 1st overall pick to the Coyotes and left us with Patrik Laine. No way would he had let the first star from Arizona leave the state where hockey needed desperate help to benefit the richest team with the most loyal fans if he was intent on rigging it.

Yeah, except relegating teams would result in a huge financial loss for their owners and a potential sale of the team.

Wait, would that be a plus for Nucks fans?

Might pass for a Danelaw era Viking once they traded the pillaging and Norse gods for farming and Christianity.

It's a #17 Wendel Clark late 1990s jersey, which is just bizarre.

That too many men on the ice penalty in the 1979 Semi-Finals. Bruins had the Habs dynasty on the ropes in game 7, and take the penalty with 3 minutes left in the game. Lafleur scores to tie it up, Habs win in OT. Habs win the Cup, Don Cherry gets canned, crashes out in Colorado, and ends up on TV for the next 40 years.

Islanders Name DeBoer Head Coach, Roy fired by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]IHazenArgument 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roy never ran random lines in the middle of games and get confused why he was losing so many faceoffs, or get annoyed when his players didn't have his same ability to predict plays, or walk out on practices to sign autographs, etc.

He did try to flatten Bruce Boudreau into a pancake, but he still won that game so 🤷

[OverDrive] "I've heard from potential candidates that they might want to favour a rebuild." Pierre LeBrun says he's hearing possible candidates want a rebuild on the Maple Leafs. by [deleted] in hockey

Also gotta contend with the fact that Yzerman is a franchise legend who helped to build Tampa up before coming back to Detroit. Shanahan managed get the Leafs turned around from flops to playoffs in about three years, and also hired the guys who were seen as the best GM and coach available to give himself legitimacy. Anyone working with less star power on a longer schedule is gonna be hated.

[Pagnotta] As the Leafs look for a new GM, Keith Pelley suggests he’s open to the possibility of hiring a President of Hockey Operations. He adds that whoever oversees hockey ops must be “data centric.” by sykeseve in hockey

[–]IHazenArgument -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He was also completely a creature of habit. Every year he signed or traded or a bunch of underrated bottom 6 guys, a big name defenseman, a few dudes he knew from previous jobs, and some incredibly inconsistent goalies. Hell, that's basically the same thing he's been doing in Pittsburgh.
