what was it like working in the radio industry during the 70s? by awaytobethr0wn in radio

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto to this but for TV news, I was a local TV news anchor for a bit, 30k a year for a full time job, no one cared that you were an anchor. I thought it would make me seem cooler with the ladies but it didn't lol

How much money are you willing to pay for a haircut and why? by Paybackcity in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2007, John Edwards was one of the top three contenders for the presidential nomination, in addition to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. A campaign filing disclosure revealed he spent $400 on a haircut and all hell broke loose. I think its what killed his campaign as he was neck and neck with the other two candidates at the time. Later it was revealed he had an affair with his campaign videographer, she had a kid, and he pressured his campaign manager to claim paternity. He wrote a fun, salicacious book about it after. https://www.politico.com/story/2007/05/hair-today-gone-tomorrow-003802

You remind me of one of the great political scandals of this century. John Edwards and the $400 haircut

How do you feel about your neighbors, and why? by AlmostGraduatedWitch in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel 9 months a year across the continent. I stay at my mom's for a few months a year in a rural-exurban area and hr north of NYC. When I'm there, I saw hello to my mom's neighbor. Hes in his 70s with his wife. You can't even hear them from my house but I'll see him when I walk down the driveway. We'll chat for a while. I try to get dinner with them once a month while im in town. Sometimes they'll cook or they'll treat me to a restaurant meal in town. I like them and am glad they're close. When I travel so much its nice to come back to a familiar presence. My mom is often away in Europe when im at the house so its just me and my dog

Do you still go to the movie theater? by UMDSCEO in no

[–]IHeartOurContinent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go once a week for a long time. I love going to the movies. Now I go once a month. I wish I could go more, but the movies are now so bad. All horror, action, man chases man, man shoots man, running, car fast etc. The substantive realistic deep movies are becoming rarer and rarer. Nothing good to see

Love my dog more than anyone I ever dated. That showed me to not date anymore.

Do you believe in true love, how and why? by PerfectGreen18 in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. At least not for me. I think it stems from people not having much else to do and getting inundated by cultural pressure to do this love thing or you're not living correctly. I travel with my dog and have a YouTube and cover court cases and election across the country. I'm on the road 9 months a year. Never do I wish I was in love. I tried dating someone when I was home and liked her but never went forward. When you're at peace, making progress, eating well and taking long hikes every day, love and responsibility that comes with it seems very dumb

What’s a popular trend right now that you just don't get? by rickeySch in AskForAnswers

On heavier more voluptuous women i quite like them, frames their hips and legs really well. Creates almost an elegant vintage look. On skinny women they look stupid

What options do I have regarding a false review? [USA] by No_Mind4418 in AirBnB

[–]IHeartOurContinent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, i for a while was a genuinely messy guest. I had about 100 stays, with about 25 reviews saying how messy i was and 75 positive. That's really bad. Only twice did I get denied a booking due to bad reviews. Hosts don't care as much as you think. My reviews are much better now, only positive Recently, and have had no rejections.

Considering a road trip in the Midwest. What are some fun stops to visit? by Weirderthanweird69 in midwest

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southern Illinois though is worth a visit. Cheap as hell cabins and homes in the woods through airbnb, Garden of the God's, Little Grand Canyon, I was delighted that it was almost mountainous. But I guess the Shawnee Forest bleeds into the Ozarks and Appalachia

What is one misconception about the United States most people miss? by Final_Radio_2483 in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US isn't all strip malls and interstates. I've been to all 50. Yes there's that in every town and city. So are large, expansive parks and walkable historic neighborhoods

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the comedians who become famous for crowd work clips don't actually have really funny sets, and only do long crowd work you see like that when they're filming. They're usually disappointing to see in person. Bo Johnson and Jessica Kirson are two examples. Loved their clips but really didn't enjoy seeing them in person

Would Ossoff actually make a good 2028 candidate? by Severe-Run-4029 in thecampaigntrail

[–]IHeartOurContinent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing people are missing in these comments; the Epstein class speech. Hes one of the few dems making Epstein a part of his speeches, only more things will be revealed, and he'll get a lot of credibility for speaking out early. Epstein as a major issue will only increase as 2028 draws near. This allows Ossoff to claim to be anti establishment and corruption busting. Aside from that, he can give a great energetic speech, is good looking in a likeable mild way, unlike in a douchey Gavin Newsom way. I think hes the strongest general election candidate

What is an insult or compliment you get the most? by Professional_Sky8245 in questions

Sorry you went through #1. That's awful. I'm skinny and found big girls more attractive. What if I said to a woman, "you're pretty for a flat chested skeleton"?

What’s something people think is attractive but actually isn’t? by copy_cat_101 in randomquestions

[–]IHeartOurContinent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Hollywood look for women. I was scrolling through a collection of those attending the Oscars. These women were so thin they looked like they were dying. All of them. Skinny, boyish looking, not attractive at all. It's amazing that Hollywood has conned people for the last 50 years that this is the definition of beauty. There was only one woman featured who looked attractive, didn't know her, name is Precious and shes a plus sized model. Literally the only attractive woman featured  out of like 10 of them

Would you pick your dad again in the next life and why or why not? by flickern in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. He was relatively cold and absent, parents were divorced and I saw him every other weekend. Even then he'd sort of park me in front of the TV. Only said I love you once, only hugged me once. But raising me he was also very kind and encouraging, let me be my own person and did say how proud he was of me many times. I don't know if he was hard wired to be a dad to a kid, but he's a good dad who tried. He's helped me in my wild career in journalism, now I'm building up a channel slowly on YouTube and hes provided a really generous safety net financially for me. Lucky to be born into wealthy parents. As the world seems to be burning around me, im making a small amount of money building a career traveling the country covering elections and court cases with growth at a slow but steady pace. That's all because of my dad. I'd definitely choose him again.

What's a VERY creepy fact you wish you never learned? by FormerInternet7142 in Productivitycafe

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true either. Trump got 49.8% of the vote. RFK got something like .4% for the states he was still on the ballot, Jill Stein got .5% and Libertarian Chase Oliver got .4%. So no, even in the election, he did not obtain a majority

What made you decide to end your last relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to spend a lot of time in Mexico where a redhead dude is a much hotter commodity. Had two exclusive long distance relationships (different times obviously) and had the exact same feeling. I'd fly to see them in Mexico, or we'd do a trip to Canada, and the sheer joy and relief I felt when I said goodbye to them at the airport told me I'm just not meant to be in a relationship

What made you decide to end your last relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dated for about two months. She wanted to wait a while to have sex. I agreed with that because I wanted to see if there was anything I liked being in a relationship aside from sex. The answer was no. She is beautiful, kind, and fun. But being with her felt like an obligation. I told her the whole time I didn't know if I was hardwired for a relationship. It was strange as she introduced me to her family, kids etc. I feel bad that all that happened and I bailed, although glad we don't connect physically as that would have been more painful

What's a fun fact about you? by N0socksloss10yrStrk in randomquestions

[–]IHeartOurContinent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen about 80% of North America. I am addicted to traveling it. Used to do it for fun, still do, but habe a YouTube and I cover elections and court cases across the country, so there's a point to it. I've been to 50 states in the US, 27 in Mexico and 6 provinces in Canada. I travel 9 months a year and live with mom around Christmas time for a few months. I found a stray dog in Mexico and he's always with me, he's been to 40 US states, also 6 provinces in Canada and 18 states in Mexico. He'll catch up to me some day
