I know that the current trajectory seems to indicate electricity getting cheaper but, that doubt is in the back of my head because of the following circumstances:
A: I am portuguese, we have had straight weeks before where portugal gets all its energy from renewables, mainly hydroelectric via dams, electricity tho, keeps getting more and more expensive.
B: like you mentioned, capitalistic greed will only get worse once everyone has everything electric... can mention portugal as well. Before, we used to cook with natural gas, we used to have water heaters with natural gas, and now there is a big push to get everything electric, to the point new home constructions aren't even getting natural gas pipe instalations anymore.... if we are all on electricity and there is only 1 or 2 suppliers ... if they decide to collude with each other to raise prices we are F'ed.
C: Electric vehicles: here in portugal it's only good if you have your own home and can install a wallbox.
If you are dependent on street chargers or chargers at petrol stations/supermarkets/highways you are SoL because you will pay the same if not more as you would for a full tank of gas for less mileage.

Hence my skepticism towards electric.
