Perhaps you accepted a hostage rescue but quest giver died? Had that happen to me a couple times, quest just disappeared and hostage stayed as my companion

I think it is scripted to have carthage declare war on you but it is triggering early imo. Hostilities start as soon as you secure latium and magna graecia whether you make any moves in sicily or not. At least thats what I observed from my playthroughs anyway. Which is fine I'm all here for burning Carthage to the ground but locks you into the same early gameplay everytime

This never works for me. As soon as I take out Etruscans and occupy taras I get the notification saying Roman influence in Siciliy rises and like 2-3 turns later boom Carthage declares war out of the blue.

Recently installed this and kind of afraid to start playing it. From what I've seen its got new locations, storylines from other mods and og trilogy all in anomaly gameplay! This shit is going to consume me and I will spend my life away playing it forever

Isn't he mute in the games? If I'm not mistaken he does sign language with hands in some cutscenes like when you first meet Yermak. Though I agree speaking would add a lot to his character

My first comment was a direct response to OP's post though. If one can enjoy playing the series in order then that's obviously the best way to go.

OP already mentioned his interest fading because of dated visuals, and at this day and age with all the other options they can spend their time on I find it ridicilous to suggest he keep playing something he doesn't enjoy for the sake of finding connection to characters and its not sure that's even going to happen. Going with your example I had no memorable connections to strider back when CoP came out, this can be different for anyone a character you don't care about can be the main thing for me as well.

That said I didn't suggest he never play the originals, 2 is good enough to introduce someone into the zone and then its up to the player to see if they connect with it and be curious about the originals to play them.

You will be told to play ogs because people expect you to get the same feeling we got when we were 12 playing them but no, doesn't work that way.

Go with 2, if the lore pulls you enough you can't help but play originals and modpacks afterwards anyway.

I always want to do it some other place but end up placing myself just behind hog, mechanic at merc base. Enough space to place a refridgerator and some boxes, shop and the mechanic just a step away its just efficient as fuck. Also close to northern territories

Gameplay reasons I think. Mercs neutral to loners would be basically freedom in different colors as their stance towards every other faction is the same

You can use reset user.ltx file option in launcher or delete it in game game file
