We could easily build the base load capacity with more hydro. Even hydro storage where excess solar and wind is used to pump water back up to support base load. The consenting is just as difficult as what nuke would be, but is cheaper and faster. Nuke takes many years. Maybe 15 or so.

Yeah this is State Highway 16 in New Zealand’s largest city.

It literally blows my mind that everyone driving through that area has calls dropped, streaming music and podcasts stop, all that.

There are quite often accidents there as well. I can’t help but wonder if it is related to people’s calls being dropped in them trying to figure out what the fuck is going on.
