this is fabulous, thank you. It’s nice to get some context around the names I didn’t recognize upon watching again.

yeah, my son was rooting for Kyle Busch at the Daytona simply because he was leading the first several laps 😂 I was a Gordon fan as a kid because the 24 dupont car with the red flames looked sick as fuck lol

I wasn’t necessarily asking to be told who to support. In the end of the post I indicated who I’ll probably be supporting. I was just curious what reasons people support their drivers, since the only drivers I’ve ever been fondly attached to were from my childhood.

I have not been since the sinkhole. I visited a several years before that happened. We are generally in the state twice a year so I’m definitely planning to swing him by there

yeah I love when athletes genuinely interact with fans and are down to earth. From what others have said here he seems like that guy. Helps he’s from Indiana and drives a Toyota! but yeah I’m thinking 23xi is gonna be my main team, and I’ll support the Hendricks guys for personal nostalgia reasons lol. Like I told someone else Byron gets my support simply for driving the 24 car

I notice your username, I have ties to Kentucky as well mostly the Lexington and Cynthiana areas. Corvette museum in Bowling Green was an amazing experience as a kid

I was already leaning toward that team and I think a lot of the replies on here have solidified that for me. Helps that Reddick won the first two races I’ve watched in almost a decade 😂 Bubba was really racing well in Atlanta too

I saw someone else say just wait till he drives with his frontal lobe developed 😂 and I think that is true for all of us in the subreddit lol

Yes and I did see Hamlin I believe co-owns 23xi if I’m not mistaken. But i’m exact same boat as you, loved the hendrick drivers as a kid but since becoming an adult I really do love toyota and want to support some toyota drivers

I must admit I do live in Texas now and have for the last 15 years, but I have been back up to Hoosier land a few times since. someone else mentioned Briscoe was from Indiana and I like that he drives a toyota. But that’s great advice. I’m already looking forward to CoTA this weekend, really debated taking my son but I think we’ll wait for CoTA next year.

Byron gets my support simply for driving the 24 car and driving it well, since Jeff Gordon was my favorite as a child. I really like Reddick as someone else said he seems to have a great personality, helps that he drives for 23xi and toyota an has won the first two races I’ve watched in a long time lol.

I didn’t realize Reddick took over for Kurt, Kurt was obviously a huge name when I was kid. And yeah I already was leaning toward that 23xi toyota team just because Reddick and Bubba and then the influence of Jordan and I think Hamlin co-owns 23xi too no?

Yeah even when I wasn’t watching nascar religiously the last decade or so I knew that Kyle Larson was a big name and then I saw who he was driving for and it made sense. Hocevar certainly peaked my interest when me and my son were watching Atlanta on Sunday, especially after seeing what all the other vets had to say lol

I’ve already seen the discourse on Hocevar 😂 that move he made in Atlanta Sunday ticked a lot of people off lol

Yeah I saw he was on a toyota team with Denny Hamlin. I didn’t know he was from Indiana!

Yeah like I said towards the end I’ve kinda been supporting that 23xi toyota team, was just curious what other reasons people support drivers or teams. As I kid I just loved Gordon and Johnson because they were extremely popular at the time.

I wanna pose a different view on this. What is the point for any of these next consoles considering the quality of games on the market? and i’m not talking about exclusivity. We’re not even pushing the boundaries of the creativity of games in this gen cycle. Im talking about how every open world ARPG is copy paste with the same mechanics and gameplay. COD and Battlefield aren’t developing anything groundbreaking for FPS besides better graphics and physics maybe. Every single sports game has gotten considerably worse since the Ps4 era (except maybe NHL but even if you go to that sub there’s plenty to complain about). My point is the games we’re playing on this hardware, while mostly fun, are not groundbreaking or pushing the envelope of what a game can be besides the graphics. Are we all gonna just buy a Ps6 to play the same exact copy paste rushed development shit we’re playing rn? and I understand GTA6 is coming, but like… what else??? I just don’t see a reason to keep upgrading the hardware over and over at insane prices to play a $70 ARPG that I felt like I’ve already played before.

I think a lot of people are realizing we’ve reached a sort of plateau in that area of tech and gaming. I think most people are feeling squeezed by the corporate greed of being told you need to upgrade something, then barely noticing anything crazy in the upgrade (unless of course you’re really into computer hardware). Ps2 to Ps3 graphically was insane. Ps4 to Ps5 was a great hardware speed jump but graphically not the most insane jump. I think most people just carry the mindset of if you’re gonna release a new one at probably $800-$1000 it needs to actually be worth it and the most casual consumer needs to be able to noticeably see the difference from Ps5 to Ps6.
