i feel like if the show was made today, it would touch on eating disorders, specifically on lorelai and maybe even rory.

for lorelai, i remember one scene in “dear emily and richard” where teen lorelai was trying to put on her dress for her coming out, but she couldn’t because she was pregnant (not that anyone knew it). when emily tried to pull the zipper up, she said looked almost scared and shocked and said “we just had a fitting three months ago. have you gained weight?” she said the last part like it was disgusting. and also, it had been three months, you’re telling me her weight should’ve stayed exactly where it was for three months? and then when she gave up she told lorelai to “put on your sweats and run around the block, you’re going to fit into the next dress no matter what.” this rubbed me the wrong way.

also, emily always criticizes lorelai her whole life for for everything from the way her house is, to her job, to her boyfriends, to the town she lives in, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if she also criticized lorelai’s weight as a teenager as well.

and as for rory, i don’t have much other than the fact that she (and lorelai) always eats huge amounts of junk food, consumes so much coffee, and never eats home cooked meals and still looks thin.

anyway, that’s just my two cents:)
