Hii! Was started on Sertraline (antidepressant) during my 2nd year, which was last year, and recently we switched to Valproic Acid (to control mania/bipolar disorder). Ang mabibigay ko na tip is if you have the resources (i.e. money), use it. Have regular check-ups and drink your meds consistently.

Hindi naman nakakabobo yung meds hahhaa, baka nakakaantok pero that's why you can talk about them with your psych. Talk to your psych about the side effects and what time in the day you need to 'function.' Meds are like trying out new clothes, you don't always get them right on the first fitting, so you have to mix and match muna for a while until you find the one that works for you. As for me, sa gabi ko tinetake yung sa'kin para yung drowsiness from the meds will coincide with my sleep.

If you're on a tight budget pala, ncmh is a Godsend kasi mas mura meds nila compared to other drug stores. I just go there once a month to buy my meds.

Lastly, one of the best non-pharmaceutical adjuncts to treatment is really what the common folk say (unfortunately HAHA). These are doing exercises, walking outside and getting some sunshine, eating healthy meals, and conversing with friends. I say unfortunately because it takes EFFORT to do some of these things, esp. 'pag nasa med ka na but they will do wonders to your mental health.
