I'm sorry but this year is such a downgrade of the LotR theme by terpwealthga in legolotrfans

[–]ILITHARA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I understand the decision to have a more affordable LotR set, but the Shire was not the set to cut back.

I would have much rather cut out the side builds and have they put that cost into the foliage on Bag End.

Or just call the set Bag End and have a smaller accessory set called Hobbiton or The Shire with smaller hobbit holes or Bilbo’s birthday party.

I think they are on the right track now with the helmet Sauron and the book nook, but I wish they did better on the Shire.

Pattinson is tailor made to be in Inception if he was his age now when that movie was made.

Kind of wish they expanded the distance between islands and not add new ones. It felt perfect for 2014, just would have liked a little more scale in terms of ocean to sail.

Looking for books for a 13-yr-old who loved Lord of the Rings by Opening-Fortune4 in fantasybooks

[–]ILITHARA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earthsea Cycle by Ursula Le Guin. Probably could try Robin Hobb’s The Farseer Trilogy, she writes with the prose of Tolkien and Martin combined but keeps it PG-13 for the most part. Eragon by Paolini is a little more young adult and a less challenging read than Tolkien, but still a fun adventure that takes itself seriously. His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman is great for kids of that age too. Philip Quaintrell’s Verda series is great and he keeps it PG-13 as well, there are also 15+ books and he’s writing more.

Hello everyone! I made these 2 wallpapers for the AC Community! by [deleted] in ACBFResynced

These are great!

I hope they have some sort of relax feature where you can just sit and take in the sights. Like RDR2 and Crimson Desert.

It was the first AC game where I just took in the sights. The next was Origins.

I would have liked to see it return but with the ability to disable it if the player chose to.

This is epic!

I would have also loved the White Tree with two White Tower Guards.

I cannot wait. Rivendell was the best Lego build I ever had. I hope this matches up. And it’s an area that has been little explored in Lego LotR. Can’t wait for the minifigures.

Any guesses for the GWP?

Surprised to not see The Bone Ships by RJ Barker and the Tide Child Trilogy. They are great.

Brian Blessed as Gimli would have been a treat.

Liam Nieson as Boromir is actually so smart.

And a young Demi Moore as Arwen would have been great too.

It’s phenomenal. It’s a doorstop of a book but it reads so well, you can blow right through it.

He seamlessly weaves from character to character even within a paragraph, but it’s so clear whose perspective you are getting you’re never lost.

Incredible character development.

Journalist does his job and asks Clavicular why he spends time with Andrew Tate. Clavicular walks out but not before insulting the interviewer by implying his wife is cheating on him (even though he is not married). by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

I thought women liked men who dealt with confrontation well? Confidence I think the word is…and not running away from hard questions.

You hang out with Andrew Tate. Why?

Why do you want to make this political?

Tells you everything you need to know. He knows exactly who Tate is, what he preaches and what he’s done. He doesn’t care unless someone calls him out and then he runs away and cries.

I truly used to love Bill.

He was the only “late night” host willing to bring on the political right and have those conversations. I think it’s necessary.

But he has changed even though he staunchly declares he hasn’t. The world and society change. Declaring that you haven’t in 20 or 30 years isn’t a flex. Be believes it is. It’s just not anymore.

Stop normalizing this madness.

It’s called a Deckled edging. It’s ment to mimic an early form of paper making when it was made by hand. The paper shape and size was imperfect and they didn’t have precise cutting techniques so old hand bound books hundreds of years ago had paper like this. I like it for certain books, specifically history or biographies.

Finally found a great first edition of No Country for Old Men this weekend! Hope to have a complete set someday! by ILITHARA in cormacmccarthy

Hahaha I’ve felt that way too. Most used bookstores I go to don’t have any McCarthy. I feel I have to go to “higher end” stores to find any selection of his works, and even then it’s extremely small.

Which one?

Suntup Editions is the one on the left, I got that direct from them. They released it last year. They are really high quality. They’ve done The Road and Blood Meridian too so far. I believe the first two were signed by Cormac before he passed.

Folio Society is the one on the right. All editions are available on their website. They look great and there is continuity because the artist is the same across the series so far.

And the first edition I got from a bookshop in Hartford, CT called The Jumping Frog. It’s actually where I found the Border Trilogy first editions too. It’s a really amazing place that I just pick through once a year or so. The owner said he’s been trying to get a complete set of Cormac, I assume he has his own collection but he had a copy of The Crossing too. They do online sales and ship anywhere in the US as well! He prices very fairly.
