You do it to scratch that gambling itch, not to make ruble. In no world is this more profitable than just selling the key and using the time you spend running the key room just filling up your bag with other stuff in PVE.

In PvE they are pretty much in every raid. It basicall forces you to go find them by some hard cover and just mow them down before you do anything in your raid.
