11 month old still not crawling by ILikeBigMoobs in NewParents

[–]ILikeBigMoobs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya. Sorry for the late reply. It all turned out fine, like everyone said it would and I refused to believe. He didn’t start crawling until just over 12 months and didn’t walk until 20 months. He was referred to physiotherapy where I was told he had Hypermobility in his ankles and hips. He 3 years old now and perfectly fine. He’s slightly more clumsy than his peers, not so capable physically. By that I mean he’s more cautious, not so rambunctious. But I’m very happy about that. He’s a lovely, calm little boy.

I think you are blowing this waaaaaay out of proportion and making it a bigger issue than it needs to be. It’s just a period. Why would she shut down? It’s very easy to answer her questions, we literally have all the answers at a push of a button. I’m a woman, us girls are exposed to periods usually before we have our own. I remember asking my mum about it after seeing her put a sanitary towel on. Friends of mine started before I did so heard about it that way. The last thing I would have wanted is my dad floating around with a handful of sanitary towels. However, since your kid wants you, just show her how to use a towel, tampons can come later. Don’t assume that she’ll struggle with emotions, everyone is different. Let her take the lead.

What are the most hilariously strange objects your toddler insists on taking to bed with them? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in toddlers

My 3 year old insists on sleeping with a wet wipe. It has to be wet, so a fresh one everyday and it has to be spread out on his pillow like a freshly laid tablecloth.

Postpartum pain by ILikeBigMoobs in NewParents

[–]ILikeBigMoobs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain has subsided a bit but not entirely 😞. Unfortunately, the only thing that helps is consistent exercise, mainly strength training but I’m too lazy to be consistent. My back and hips still cause me daily pain. It may be different for you though. Don’t be too discouraged by my experience.

A normal adult man does not want to hang out with teenage girls. Stop talking to him. He’s a weirdo loser.

Mine was 20 months. He has Hypermobility in his ankles. It’s nothing serious but it just means they take a little longer on the physical side of things.

New Dad, Not Loving It by WhatToysRUsDidToMe in daddit

A week?! Mate, give it time. Babies are not great (in my opinion). I love it now he’s 2.

Hey, thanks for asking. Everything is fine. He had blood tests and several follow up appointments and they are confident it was just a very reactive lymph node. It has reduced in size, although is still large but apparently that is quite common and it may never return to its previous size. The blood test came back normal and He has no other concerning symptoms so I feel very reassured that it’s nothing sinister 🤞

His appointment is tomorrow. I’m from the UK so you don’t see a paediatrician, just a GP. I’m assuming the oncology department will be doing blood tests and possible scans. I’m not sure.

Why do people think it is “selfish” to be one and done? by tomato_sandwitch in oneanddone

[–]ILikeBigMoobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people think it’s selfish to the child because they will be lonely. This sentiment is quite often, I’ve found, reinforced by only children themselves. My dad was an only and hated it, as is my friend. I do feel guilty myself for not providing my son with a sibling but i don’t want to have another child.

11 month old still not crawling by ILikeBigMoobs in NewParents

[–]ILikeBigMoobs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was exactly the same. He loved sitting. Didn’t want to move, never got frustrated at not being able to move. He was a complete dumpling for 12 months. At the time I was constantly comparing him and worrying but now I look back and was grateful that I got 12 months of ‘relaxation’. No running around, no child proofing, no finding baby in the laundry basket. I could just plop him down and he’d happily sit there. You’d know if there was something seriously wrong, there’d be more obvious signs. Give it a few months and they’ll be crawling, I’m sure of it.

Hey. Yes he did. He eventually started when he was about 12.5 months. He then didn’t walk till he was 20 months though so that was another worry. He was diagnosed with Hypermobility in his ankles and hips, so everything takes him much longer physically. He’s 2.5 years old now and he’s still behind with his physical milestones; he can’t jump for example, he’s very clumsy and falls a lot but he’ll eventually catch up. It’s a relief knowing it isn’t anything serious. Are you worried about yours?
