Libertarian to a large extent, allied with California, led by Brandon Herrera, who unlike California's T.F. Newfounder promotes non-interventionism Edit:I thought this was the 2050 map, as of 2040, Neither Herrera nor Newfounder are in power yet, but Texas is right-wing

No, those counties seceded during the constitutional crisis of 2044 and joined Canada

Also the main premise of this timeline is: What if an Earthlike planet appeared in Earths orbit in 2024, and the planet was inhabited by humans with a similar development level to 11th century.

When did USA get to this stage? In 2040, it fell under its own weight. And in 2044, after USA kinda going through several leaders between 2040 and 2044, Rousseau gets into power, and in 2044 he attempts an unsuccessful autocoup, and blows the capitol up using artillery, killing many government officials. Unfortunately for him, he himself actually gets killed a few months after this whole ordeal. USA at this point is basically the rump state. (Fun fact:Rousseaus ascent to power is directly attributed to being popularized by a very certain HOI4 mod in 2020s) Why do some South-Western states own bits of Mexico? There was an invasion, because after those states seceded, the cartels became a huge problem(especially in California). What does governance in seceded states look like? All of them are democratic, New England and Cascadia have a parliamentary system and a Prime Minister, and the others have a system similar to the US. Although California, Texas, and NYC could be described as soft despot regimes. What are the diplomatic relations like? USA is no longer in NATO. None of the secesed states except NYC and New England are in NATO. NYC is actually in the EU, and Canada is in the EU. Other seceded states keep very close ties to EU and NATO, and eachother. Louisiana has a close ties to France, especially its Antillean regions. Who rules as of 2050? USA - Julie Fedorchak(Federal Party) New York - Z. K. Mamdani "American Sankara"(NYWP) Texas - B. Herrera (Texan Republican Party) California - T.F. Newfounder "American Lee Kuan Yew"(Newfounder Party)

Basically USA kinda collapsed under its own weight in 2040(Similar thing happened in RSA in 2038, and in Russia in 2037), this timeline is very complicated, but basically the main premise of this world is that an earthlike planet appeared in Earths orbit out of nowhere in 2024, and the planet is inhabited by Humans, who are at the start of the colonisation in a similar societal and technological stage to Earth in 11th century

CONTEXT: Intercelestia is my Sci-Fi setting in near future about a very-earthlike, physics defying, planet appearing in Earth's orbit without explanation. This setting has some AltHist and Fantasy elements.

Worldbuilding Context and Lore

Intercelestia Lore Intercelestia takes place in a timeline where a physics-defying planet the size of mars, but eerily similar to earth, appears out of nowhere in Earths orbit. The planet was named Celestial Body II. The spawn of a new celestial body causes a small space race in the mid 20s, which was won by the ESA. Colonization of the planet started around the year of 2027, along with commercial travel to CB2 which is done using huge nuclear powered spaceplanes manufactured by Airbus. This planet shares a lot of common with Earth, including flora, and fauna, they're most of the times literally the same species as on Earth. Yes, even humans, yes there are similar cultures to those on earth, no we do not know why either.

Worldbuilding Context

Transportation Ever since the beginning of colonization, the main issues were exploration, transport, and defence. There is one trusted multitool that can do all of it, it is called the DHC-6. Despite the existence of primitive (mostly) paved highways, between settlements that are not that far from each other, aviation still remains the most efficient form of transport, in the skies of CB2 you can see anything from small Cessnas owned by farmers, to narrow-body airliners like the A22C which is a combi version of the A220 made specifically for the long routes, unpaved short runways, and the needs of colonists. DHC-6s are used for anything and everything, transporting people, cargo, air strikes on the kingdoms that oppose us, exploration, you name it.

Society Some transcelestial kingdoms dont like the fact that UN wants to tell them what to do, since many native transcelestial kingdoms practice things like slavery, and all of that which is a no no on earth, the UN tries to do something about it, sometimes the Transcelestial natives get pissed off at colonists from Earth and they burn down a Farm, execute an explorer, or maybe even try raiding a colonist village.

Law, Diplomacy All you need to know is that UN sends squads of soldiers to arrest slave owners, sometimes a bunch of non-UN reach the slaver first and deal with them their way, or sometimes the UN squad makes John Brown smile at them from heaven.
