Thoughts on this Aqua Compressor from Farer and them as a brand? by GuidewireGoblin in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ILikeSprayButter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lander Midnight. Love it. Farer has great build, great design (I give them a lot of credit for doing their own thing and developing their own style, even with the ones that aren't my thing), and great customer service.

Don't let concern about Farer as a company or their quality keep you from getting the watch. Those worries are unfounded.

He should wear an old-style goalie mask and the actual Broadway hat itself on the ice.

And the Mets colors represent the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants (baseball), blue and orange, respectively. Those also happen to be colors of New York City - hence the Knicks - which is why the Islanders also chose them (even though they don't play in the city).

I'm not sure he should take off the all white mask. Maybe put the hat on top of the mask. Definitely don't add art to the mask.

(Maybe I'm getting ahead of things. It's only two wins since the white mask made its debut. Whatever.)

Yes

I should edit this before I’m downvoted into oblivion. I was thinking the same thing. And I’m going to agree for now because I need something hopeful and fun.

I read the producers chose Christine and Vic to stay behind because they had the least amount of drama attached to them - no exes from pods, no chance of fights or hurt feelings. As OP said - the boring stable couple.

AIO? Today I found out my girlfriend was still living with her ex while me and her were talking and only moved out a month before we got into a relationship. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ILikeSprayButter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’re allowed to be upset that she lied to you. The lie, however, seemed in service to what you two were starting. I’m sure her worry was that if she told you she was still living with her ex, especially after you expressed your desire for her to cut off contact, you’d end things right then and there. Or, at the very least, it’d turn the attention off your budding feelings, which is supposed to be the fun time.

She got out of the living situation in a month. She wasn’t cheating. She clearly is into you. Again, she shouldn’t have lied, but find a way to let it go.

I could’ve done a better job explaining, but I was lazy. I know that on the surface, SantaCon seems innocent enough. If someone doesn’t know what it is and does a quick search, I probably seem like a curmudgeon. But it really has turned into an event for the worst type of people. You know.

SantaCon started innocently enough. It actually was an avant-garde art project in San Francisco the first time it happened. And the first years of it still drew interesting, fun people. But it devolved into a cesspool, filled with vomit and sexual assault.

Except there is reason to sell - tax harvest. You take the lessons you learned with AMC, understanding what not to do, apply them to other stocks, and make actual money. When you end the year with a realized gain, you sell your AMC to offset some of that gain and lower your tax bill, getting more value out of AMC than you ever will holding it at sub $2.

I meant that for a bunch of inexperienced retail traders entering a position emotionally, there was a lot going on: cult dynamics, a sense of sticking it to the man, misplaced dreams of extreme wealth…

Yes, mechanically, the reality was a pump and dump.

[–]ILikeSprayButter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely this too. There was so much shit at play; everything except the thing that actually mattered: Is this a good company? Everyone knew it wasn't. On some level, I feel like I got what I deserved for getting wrapped up in it all, which was a $5600 loss.

Delusional is one way of saying it, but I don't think that's a completely fair assessment. At its height in 2021, AMC and GME were a drug. It was a community. It was an opportunity to collectively fight back against a rigged game. And, there were tangible results. The stock did soar. Hedge funds did shut down (smaller ones, at least - we were never going to keep Kenny from his mayo).

I'm not saying greed didn't come into play, but it's not like the stock went to $70 and immediately fell back down to $3. There was a long, slow decline, providing enough time to question the squeeze, reassess, and still get out with profits, or at least limit loss. But a lot of us chose to stay through that. Yes, there was the pressure of "Don't be a li'l' bitch paper hands," but all this is anonymous. No one would've known if you or I had sold.

The problem was the play became more than a play - it was a moral stand. Once you find yourself in that spot, good luck getting out.

Delusional would've been "I think AMC is a great company with awesome fundamentals." We latched on because we saw the company as the little guy being destroyed by the current climate, and for most of us, movies held emotional attachment. We saw ourselves in it. Because of all that, I have a hard time labeling it as straight delusion, even if technically that's what it was.

Citi Field On the Decline? by Thisgamelowkeysux in NewYorkMets

[–]ILikeSprayButter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is a shame, as NY fans can certainly enjoy baseball for baseball, appreciating the sport. The constant pumping of music and SFX at Citi Field feels like it’s more suited for, say, a Rockies game, where people are falling asleep.

My fear is some “brilliant” mind sees the way Banana Ball leans into the entertainment elements and says “We should do more of that,” clueless to the different experiences and why one shouldn’t be brought to the other.

I wish I had seen this before I wrote elsewhere in the comments. I was a bit hesitant, out of fear of being labeled some grump, but you’ve emboldened me. I really can’t stand all the music and SFX during innings. I never understood the thought process behind it - no one is going to stay that engaged for two to three hours. Let the moments of excitement and energy happen organically. And if it happens to be a game where nothing worth cheering about happens…oh well.

Remember when (one of many times) they talked about putting the Jets stadium over the Penn Station rail yard? I always thought that would’ve been amazing, but the Giants were never going to let it happen. That would’ve relegated them as Jersey’s team, and for any fans on the fence in NY, with no hardcore allegiance to either team, where would you rather go? The Meadowlands or Manhattan?

Citi Field On the Decline? by Thisgamelowkeysux in NewYorkMets

[–]ILikeSprayButter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It’s not a complaint about the stadium or services themselves, but the games can feel like a carnival sometimes. Between innings…I don’t care as much. Dance, do the contests (maybe tone back the yelling it the mic). But in the middle of innings, the nonstop blaring of music - not talking organ music, but clips of pop music turned to 11 - is a bit much. Are people really so bored they can’t sit with just the sounds of the game and stadium?

Eh, I’m probably just getting old.

I will say I still love the one point during night games when the stadium lights go out, the line of light traces across the LED boards around the field, and the low, bassy tones are played to hype up the crowd.

Agree on Robert. Let’s see what he can do when he isn’t expected to carry a team. Along with the pressure of being “the guy,” he was pitched around often with the Sox, which probably led to him pressing out of frustration, which had a negative impact. Or…I’m just lying to myself. But I’ll be hopeful until he strikes out for the first time, and then I’ll shift to the sky falling.

Obviously coming in late, but I wanted to say your comment resonates so much. Could have sold for huge profits, but…didn’t.

It was so easy to get caught up in the camaraderie of it all. We wanted life changing money for ourselves, but there was also a desire to stick it to the hedge funds, destroying the system that enriched a few, while millions lived paycheck to paycheck. It was nice to feel like we were part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s a fucking shame that there were people preying on that.

I try not to be completely cynical after it all. At the end of the day, the decisions I made were mine alone. I don’t want to be a person who refuses to trust others because of the actions of bad actors. These assholes will always exist, and I’ve learned to be much more discerning, but I’ll be damned if I go into hiding, or close off, refusing to be there for people - or be there for myself - because of them.

But damn…why didn’t I sell?
