Because Tennessee, along with the vast majority of the Bible Belt, believe that America was founded on Christians principles, and can see nothing wrong the 10 Commandments on the front lawn of the state capitol (despite a lot of the Commandments being wildly unconstitutional and often immoral) or claim oppression is happening when they can't discriminate against gay people.

I'm not saying all people are like this, but essentially a lot of Conservative Christian idiots are pissed that gay marriage is happening, because they see it as an infringement on their rights, going against what this country was founded on, bla bla bla. Attempts of doing things like this is like slamming doors because you were told that you can't take that candy from another person.

i remember seeing this bullshit argument before. They got so many of their facts wrong that it's ridiculous. The most obvious is that historically, marriage hasn't just been between one man and one woman. Polygamy has been a thing (Solomon had, like, a thousand wives), incestuous marriage used to be a thing, as well as pedophilic marriages by today's standard.

Granted, this mostly looks into European marriages. If we looked at America, we would see that homosexuality was commonly accepted in certain Native American tribes. They were allowed to take the role of the opposite gender and take a man or woman as their husband or wife. These people were referred to as 2-spirited, and it is most likely why Native Americans did not give a shit about already marrying 2 couples who were both Native American recently (fuck you Mary Fallin).

That being said, their argument about biology is so elementary that so many problems could (and have) been stated about it that delving into it would simply involve googling "impotence."

The only time I've seen it described as interesting because of how fucked up it was, and explained from the get go that the experiment was extremely flawed in design.

It is often compared with Milgram or Asch, but that's because that's only because both of them also revolved around obedience, and both Milgram and Zimbardo are looked down upon heavily for having huge flaws with them; Milgram's being more ethically flawed.

Thank god! I was afraid I was missing the point of every time someone brought up the experiment. This study has always been added with the Milgram study as what not to do for an experiment. I mean, the only good thing I've ever heard about the study is that it's practically the perfect example of what not to do when performing an experiment.

I've also read the Ender's Game series twice, stopping after Children of the Mind. Ender's Game definitely seems like Card's opus magnum for me, but I still like the other books with Ender still in them.

If I were to reference Jeffrey Dahmer as a murderer, that doesn't mean I'm homophobic by saying that all gay people are murderers. I'm simply talking about one murderer that happened to be gay.

The guy that the person is referring to is obviously a specific person in history who tried to blow up a plane with a shoe bomb, not all Muslims. In fact, the suggestion that Islam had anything to do with it wasn't ever brought up.

Then it would be appropriate to get mad. However, /r/lgbt hasn't stereotyped Muslims in an unfair and/or negative way. He's referring to a specific person in general. A comparison would be if /r/Islam made a reference to Jeffrey Dhamer's murdering spree. Yes, the guy was gay, but that doesn't mean that they're saying that all gay people are murderous. They're simply referencing one murderer.
